Just bought game - won't recognize "launch game" login password on Steam

This is crap. I just bought and DL'd the game on Steam. When I launched the game up popped the IL2 Sturmovik website login prompt to log in again. Problem is the IL2 website login won't recognize the same password I used to log in to this forum.

What's the problem?

Use the "Forgot password?" link in main page to retrieve the site password:

https://il2sturmovik.com/account/login/?next=/

Or if not did this before, create a site account.

You need log on site to register the STEAM key:

And for set new nickname (tag) and squad name for use online and on forum.

I already have a site account with the same password I used to log in to this forum. The problem (now solved after a lot of unnecessary grief) was every password change I attempted would NOT work with the Steam / IL2 log in - repeatedly got "error - password not recognized".

What I eventually discovered worked - by pure happenstance - was exiting Steam entirely and logging into the IL2 Sturmovik BOS site, then accessing my account info where I saw the prompt box to register new game keys/codes - which I then did with the key obtained with the download - followed by a successful registration confirmation. I then exited the IL2 site and went back and logged onto Steam, clicked on the IL2 game listing directly and this time when presented with the IL2 Sturmovik BOS log in my password was recognized and was taken to the game start page.

Having to contend with TWO DIFFERENT DRM protection schemes for a game is blatantly nuts. Game publishers contract with Steam to take advantage of the inherent DRM protection and it begs the question why this game - unlike every other Steam required game I have - requires registering the product key separately from Steam in order to access the game that's only available from Steam. I'd really like to this explained by the dev's or publisher or whatever entity came up with this asinine idea.

I have also just bought the game.

I have exactly the same problem and cannot play it.

I cannot solve it.  I have asked for help from both Steam and ICS and received no help so far.

I have reset my password...

I have tried to activate my key on the ICS site (says invalid!)

This is unnecessary and burdensome on your customers - how do I play a paid for game?

If you need help with your account contact the developers on the Support page http://il2sturmovik.com/support/

They don't work weekends so it may take until Monday for a reply.

If your key does not activate here: http://il2sturmovik.com/store/license-keys/

There is a problem and you need to contact support.

I had the same problem and used vonPilsner's advice. It worked after I changed my password to the same password as well!

I also had this problem.

Steam supply you with a license key, copy this to the clipboard. You have to use the link vonPlisner has provided and paste the Steam provided key in to the license key box. The ICS password and e-mail you have already set up will allow you entry to the site to do this.

This game is not only available from Steam but direct from this web site too.  If you bought it direct from this web site you do not need Steam.
