ST_ami7b5 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I'm pretty sure they stated that the Ju-52 is a special case. But I still hope they will make it flyable later on. I would buy it - iconic plane.
CIA_Yankee_ Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I think it would be helpful if you prefaced opinion statements with "I think" or "Perhaps" or "In my [humble] opinion". It might avert the danger of coming off as an agressive know-it-all. Personally, I saw a (205) Veltro in the Milan science museum when I was a young man, and became a bit of a macchi "tifoso" on the spot (there's also a De Havilland Vampire up there, so I became a De Havilland fanboy at the same time. So for me, the 202 is the perfect example to show off first. There's ample historical justification, and it's a cool-looking aeroplane. I love the fact that it's from a different country (just like the G50 in another recent English Channel based WWII cfs, which was not exactly central to its theatre of conflict). I'd also love, the IAR, the P 40 and (pretty please) the Hurricane Mk II. Honestly. A new plane. What's not to like? And Pag: great information! Tante grazie! Buon Natale a tutti! EXACTLY! New plane, what's not to like? This is a GOOD thing, regardless, and here we are debating (sometimes ludicrously venomously) about how much better it COULD BE, when we really have no info beyond a few screenshots... and even the worst case scenario is STILL a good thing: a cool new aircraft for us to enjoy! I'm looking forward to the Macchi. And the IAR, and the Yak-7,the Ju-88, and any other A/C they feel like adding. It'll be grand.

With all due respect Swallow the game is not called the battle of fond childhood memories....I built models as a child and had them hanging from the ceiling with fishing line and my son now hates going to wright Patterson museum i have stood in front of may favorite A/C the P61 black widow and grinned like a child staring at a dragon...would i like to see it in the game?...HELL yes....but it has no place in this theater. Have you been around long enough to see some of the pain stacking research the community will do just to make sure they have the correct RLM paint on historical skins? people will make missions that are a recreation of actual advents and include historical accurate skins just to further deepen the immersion, I have watched people argue over the tiniest details concerning the modeling of an aircraft and include pics of original documentation and scanned pages from old books. I belonged to a group at one time where the founder did pain staking research on ALL medals in the Luftwaffe what they were awarded for and what were the qualifications to receive them and we would get them on our bio once we achieved those requirements, its all the little details that really increase the immersion and having accurate period specific planes sets is a crucial part of that, just imagine for a moment that when the game was released that it came with the ME,DServer and the JU52...can you imagine servers running a continuous mission revolving around one of the biggest air lifts of the war (air bridge to 6th)...but it did not happen and we all know why but here we are yet again watching the same illogical trend continue. Operation Uranus (Russian: Операция «Уран», romanised: Operatsiya "Uran") was the codename of the Soviet 19–23 November 1942 strategic operation in World War II which led to the encirclement of the German Sixth Army, the Third and Fourth Romanian armies, and portions of the German Fourth Panzer Army. The operation formed part of the ongoing Battle of Stalingrad, and was aimed at destroying German forces in and around Stalingrad. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/77/Operation_Uranus.svg over 1000 soviet A/C took part in this Operation...just imagine the number of campaigns and historically accurate DF missions could be in rotation on any server.....but we need the planes that were actually there in order to make them. You said, There's ample historical justification you are right about this but not when it comes to the folgore, it really apply's to the P-40, and IAR you mentioned at the end. Limp justifications and pats on the back to the Dev's without calling them to account for why they have chosen to produce an A/C that has really no bearing at all on the pivotal turning point in the B-A-T-T-L-E-OF-S-T-A-L-I-N-G-R-A-D is a bad idea and sends the wrong message about how the "continuation" of the IL2 franchise should be handled. We think the 202 will be a popular, interesting bird. Jason how about we do a poll called "interesting birds....of the battle of Stalingrad" with a complete list of all fighters? and we let the community decide what is....interesting.
Yakdriver Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I belonged to a group at one time this is a fresh start, not a continuation of old times. therefor many things are different...
