Requesting an option to have a 'no cockpit view' aka Wonder Woman' view....

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

.....in Replays please!

Right, so I'll get that out the way first, I know that from previous developed games by this studio that removing the cockpit is pretty much not worth asking for as it didn't happen again RoF and requests for it to be included during EA fell on deaf ears...but...if this is going to continue could I suggest the above?

So in 'live' play, while I don't like it, it's a case of live with it or don't, there is no other choice, but, for movie-makers the cockpit view is a very limiting factor taking away a huge creativity option from the film-makers toolset.

As a compromise could the developers please consider an option for replays only (as there seems no-way we'll get it in 'live' flight, do disable the cockpit thus allowing film-makers the ability to.do tracking shots, guncam shots, flyby shots, Ir-to-air uncluttered view shots to name but a few.

I am not asking for a no cockpit view while playing live, only an option to turn off the cockpit in replays. The more videos that can be created, the more free.publicity that can be generated by film-making enthusiasts.

Requesting this option is all the threw is about, a no cockpit view (called Wonder Woman view as she had a glass aircraft that was see-through) to facilitate movie-making in the product.

Cheers, MP

While on the topic of movie making/screenshots is would be great to have an option to turn on/off the lens flare.  It is done well but if you are taking a screenshot to look like a painting, etc., it just does gets in the way.

Seems like that's not the popular opinion around here.

Oh it is.  But only amongst us plebs. :salute:

Note taken, MP

I do appreciate it wont be seen as a priority, but any feature that allows people to make movies that a larger community view for entertainment, must surely be seen as a great marketing tool/feature.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it, cheers, MP

Options are good... options are always good and having options is what sells sims.

When you start saying "you must do it this way" especially after people are used to having options for years in other products .. depending on the options that are available.. many will just choose to walk away rather than engage.

Yes, yes, yes and yes.  Call it "Gun Camera View" and make it work only in playback.  Done!

I agree with MP , I love those "guncam" films made in cod. I would very much appreciate a feature like that.

It allows video to be made like this:

And ... gun cam is historically accurate.  :salute:

Absolutely agree MP. Along with f11 and padlock even if they are only in replays.

I would like it in live play, too. At least in Singleplayer.

I think it would be easier for some to start with the game.

Best open a different thread for that as I'm not looking to get this one derailed :)

Yes, no issue as far as I see for not having it in replays only (if the 'live' play is not going to be changed), great suggestion

Ok, one step after the other.  :)

Are live as in my life and live as in concert the same spelling, I'm dyslexic please help me

Strange concept based variation

No, 'live' in this context means the cockpit would be active as you play the game.

So the cockpit could only be disabled when watching it as a replay not while flying it.

No worries.. I won't let that happen.

Bringing the thread back from the dead. As I mentioned, this would only be for replay mode as asking for it in 'live' gameplay ruffles too many purist feathers.

It was great to see the free camera view brought back into play, so may I ask for the no cockpit view in replays be added as an option for replays as this will give a great boost to the possible camera views for movie-makers to work with ........please? ;)

Hey Mystic, have you played with the alt f2 cameras yet? They have several (6?) Views set up as go pro camera angles and even better can be custom placed via a few adjustments in the camera position scripts.

You could place a camera right on the nose of the airplane if you wanted.

why not have a wonderwoman-view?

It's rather hard for me to understand. I guess you could draw a lot of customers with that. wonderwoman view was what brought me deeply into Il-2, eventually leaving it behind, but i had tons of fun with it and when I wanted to go further I just went for the skies of valor server with closed pits for example.

It's about having the option, i guess i wouldn't spend so much time in it anymore because I love to fly full real, but sometimes I do miss it and people who are new to flightsimming might get the fun they need first to get drawn in deeper then.

I've pushed for it many times. No luck convincing anyone yet. Han mentioned to me some issue with doing it, but I have no idea what it is.

It seems to be already possible to adjust the camera to simulate a guncam/wonderwoman view as per N8's video:

No, I hadn't tried but I will have a look in the next couple of days :)

Sorry for my text in bold but 'scripts'? No idea what or how to use scripts.

Thanks Jason. I appreciate you at least asking. Shame it can't be done, but as I said, appreciate you asking...and at-last we got the SSAO option to be included...so there is hope no cockpit

Looks great. I wonder if he/she will share how it was achieved :)

 view may happen....one has to live in hope :)

I forgot what view but it's the one just at the left side of the engine... If you zoom in a little bit you basically have WWV/N8's.

Yes MP.... needed for sure!

Hey Mystic, so the scripts are very easy to understand. ToMorrow I'll post the file path and an exame of how to change the position of the alt f2 cameras.

Each plane has it's own set, and each can be manipulated. I really think it's what you are asking for.

I remember suggesting GoPro views and getting flamed for it during EA. Glad someone took a look at it. Now that I know it's there I'll tinker with it a bit.

For those who do not know: You can turn and move the cameras in alt-f2 views using the keys and mouse. Probably easier than tinkering with the scripts.

You can, but it's limited somewhat. I've played around with them today but the adjustments aren't fine enough to get the perfect view. I'd like to see Hooves' scripts.

They arent mine, they are the game scripts that came with the latest update.

X:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\LuaScripts\WorldObjects\fixcameras\Planes

You go in there and every plane has a view

you can play with where its positioned.

For example.  the MC 202:

// attach ID shold be in range from 100 to 110

[attach=100] // Gun camera over the cocpit

    position = 0.8, -0.0, 1.3

    rotation = 0, 0, 0

    object = "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/GoProCamera75.txt"

[end]

[attach=101] // Forvard camera located on the vertical fin

    position = -4.5, 1.6, 0.2

    rotation = 0, 0, -10

    convex = "Fin_Ctl_1"

    object = "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/GoProCamera90.txt"

[end]

[attach=102] // Forvard camera located on the horizontal fin

    position = -4.1, 0.35, -1.2

    rotation = 0, 0, 0

    convex = "Stab_L_1"

    object = "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/GoProCamera90.txt"

[end]

[attach=103] // Backward camera located on the engine cowling

    position = 1.6, 0.9, -0.6

    rotation = 0, 170, -5

    object = "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/GoProCamera90.txt"

[end]

[attach=104] // Side camera located on wing

    position = 1.45, -0.2, -40.2

    rotation = 0, 80, -5

    convex = "WingL_Out_0"

    object = "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/GoProCamera90.txt"

[end]

[attach=105] // Forward camera located below the plane tail

    position = -4.6, -0.2, -0.4

    rotation = 0, 0, 0

    convex = "Fuse_Ctl_11"

    object = "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/GoProCamera90.txt"

[end]

change any of the position points to tweak where you want the camera to be.  In your case Mystic you would modify the first camera.

I also find that this camera setting

position = 3.0, -0.0, -0.0

will give you the best nose came shot.  Whats great is you can put the camera in any position in which the real camera was in the aircraft.  I'm having a lot of fun with this view!  I hope you a\re too!

That is good - almost mesmeric. The contrast between the out of body experience of the gun cam view and the sweaty in cockpit view will make for some terrific movies.

No problem! These new.camera angled did t get much press. And what you can do with them got even less.

Right, now, this looks great but what you are missing is a "Guncamera for Dummies using scripts" option.

So here goes:

1) Let's say I am playing 'live' not from a recorded track. Can this option be enabled so effectively a no cockpit view? Just asking.

2) As you mention the scripts came with the latest update. How do you activate them? I ask because if they are supplied then what switches them on or off? Could the script be bound to a key?

3) They look great so now I'm feeling envious and wouldo like to try them out.

4) If cameras can be moved via scripts, can one be placed inside the glass of the cockpit looking back at the animated pilot?

5) I really want to try them.....please answer soon :)

Cheers, MP
