DCS MiG-15bis

First time I've pre-ordered a DCS module.

Anyone else more excited about the DCS Korean War-era modules than the DCS WWII modules, as I am?

Not really interested in the Sabre... but a MiG... well... now we're talking!

Nice! Still haven't really bonded with the Mustang and Sabres that I'd bought. Once I'd learned to take off it felt like i had run out of things to do. This might be just the thing though. :)

More so than the WWII era fighters.

Give us DCS: Korea and I'd be very, very happy.

The map, most especially. If I never had to fly over Georgia again I would be happy enough (yay! NTTR!), but something about scenarios on Korean peninsula will never get old.

Would a problem with doing a Korea map be the minor problem of possibly not getting accurate data and maps etc from North Korea...?

No,  We have plenty of satellite data.

Looks pretty nice and soon the F86 will have a playable and suitable opponent :)

Just not sure about buying it as it seems that belsimtek takes forever to address certain issues or finish tasks like the manuals for their actual modules.

Also I think there is quiete a lack of communication with the community if I compare this to other companies creating 3rd party modules for DCS.

I hear you on that one. I'm buying NTTR and Hormuz the moment I can.

Hormuz for me waiting for Normandy and...Korea. I'm not a Korean era lover but this Sabre is so wonderfull that........yea, Korea would be great! Mig-15 does look insane.

Great video.

with edge, the sim might be worth loading up again. i might even reward them by buying the nevada map.

don't care too much about vegas to be honest, but the screenshots of it look really detailed. haven't buzzed the stratosphere since jane's usaf.

This makes me think of Project Galba was it..? The Korean thing that Ilya was supposed to be eventually getting to.... Not saying this has anything to do with it... but it just reminds me of it.

Meh. I prefer the 50's over cannons.

But this is what I've mostly been hearing for the past year, and it's mildly amusing..

"Man, I can't wait to f**k Mustangs up in my Dora once the new engine comes out!"

"Man, I can't wait to f**k Sabers up in my Mig once the new engine comes out!"

So, once the EDGE engine comes out, apparently be prepared for a tidal wave of Axis/Red pilots straight from War Thunder, who claim they play DCS just because they have FC3 installed.

^^

When it comes to EDGE, I don't understand the people who are so hung up over waiting for it.

There's a few weird things, but DCS as it is now looks fine. Anyway, don't we all like to pretend that graphics don't matter?

DCS keeps me coming back because of my continuing grand quest to reach the holy grail of DCS, namely, landing that damn Mi-8!

Posted

dcs looks like unadulterated crap. i'm not going to touch it until edge comes out. and you're perfectly right...people like to pretend graphics don't matter. if that were true, graphics wouldn't have advanced beyond 2d sprites and simple polygons.

and it's not even the graphics, but the technique behind it. the scale of ground details is just atrocious. ocean waves that make it seem like you're flying 50 feet above water when you're actually thousands of feet in the air.

That title desperately needs proper WW2 and korea maps/environments.Without them it's just old warbirds airshow simulator over preolympics Sochi,Caucasus and Georgia.

I am now slowly learning how to control that bich... :)

You must mean the Dora, right

Still struggling to land that thing, the 109 on the other hand handles like a dream, at least for me :)

I have bought the Sabre, but will wait for sale with MiG-15.

Too many sims to feed

BTW, I saw MiG-15s flying quite low above our district (not in Russia) from nearby AP when I was a child.

Then MiG-17s came... they had longer wings.

But the flight and systems modeling is simply remarkable!

Ho-hum. It doesn't really mean much to me without a proper environment in which to fly them.

there were plenty of sims catering to the ww2 genre. all i see them doing is spreading themselves way thin. there's already so much complaining on their forums about features and bugs not being fixed or included while they pushing out (no offense) lame ducks like mustang, huey, mi 8. seriously?

i heard one of their contractors wil be doing cobra. i just hope it's the w, and not another korean or vietnam era turd.

True as it is.I was always for DCS to focus on modern air combat with jets. But there were decisions taken and now,as you write, they are stretched thin with WW2,Korea,cold war....doing everything and in same time nothing. That is also why I do not support them anymore. There is no coherence in their milestones/road map.

That will all change when we get the F-18C, Hormuz and carrier ops from ED - let the 3rd parties create maps and objects for the oldtimers.

I look forward to the MiG-15. I just bought the MiG-21 a little under a week ago and it's been my obsession ever since.

"Plenty" is a stretch. And while I agree with others that DCS is missing the big picture "environment" to make it a sim that you can truly immerse yourself in, no other sim allows you to explore various aircraft in such detail. Some people like study sims with as much fine detail as possible, while others prefer the experience that sims like BoS offers. There's nothing wrong with that, just as there's nothing wrong with any of the aircraft you listed in your post. If they're a "turd," that's simply your opinion.

I was wary about DCS for some time.  Jet guys doing props, below par graphics etc.  But then I dipped my toe in the water and got the Dora.  The game looks better in-game than in screenshots/videos etc.  But the real highlight is the flight model.  Have a lot of fun just doing take-off and landing drills.  There is something special about that FM.  While I am not a "jet guy", a DCS Korea module might get my interest.  Looking forward to developments in the DCS WW2 area.  And, of course, BOM.  Hoping they do a great job on the bf110 and ju88 and that the mission editor and DServer are mature by then.

Lovely plane, looking forward to the first korea servers with F-86 vs Mig-15 Dogfights :D

Do you know how DCS development functions, in that regard? This isn't just one team, it's multiple teams working on individual aircraft. But again, if people buy them, they're going to make them regardless of your complaints.

And the Cobra is probably going to be a Whiskey.

Lovely screenies Golani :salute:

Are you using SweetFX?

NOTICE FOR DCS USERS: After you install the new patch (1.2.15), make sure to click on "Repair Install". Else, you might have an issue with the MiG-21. The repair install should be around 300 mb.

Oh, and by the way, the MiG-15 was released. It's badass.

Try the huey. It's a load of fun and you can do sling loads on it. Never thought I'd find helos fun, but DCS. The ka 50 I thought I would hate and for a while I did especially as the stock cockpit graphics look so old now. There's an update on the user files page which makes a load of difference. Since I don't own the a10 I don't have any other missile tank buster platform.

I brought the sabre in the sale and to be honest I've felt underwhelmed mostly because of a bug where sometimes you can't call ground control for ground power which you need in order to start the engine. But I took it out the other day after watching a 40 min dogfight video and had great fun. The ammo goes really fast and feels like shooting peas.

And I'm with you on the dora, it seems to be my go to ww2 bird as well. It's got a fairly good fm. It's fairly easy to land and has lots of guns. Having said that I took the 109 up for the first time in a while and had a lot of fun shredding in it. Did the 'standard' noob wing scrape though on land. Then the mustang is actually pretty fun as well. It does feel like easy mode, but it must have felt like a good 'go to war' plane at the time.

I know this is a mig 15 thread, but you can buy any plane in their lineup and have a blast. Of all I own, except a few they're all my favourites.

a mig in nevada. wtf are they trying to do. really terrible.

It's almost like they're trying to sell a product. Then again, anyone that obsessed with the ground rendered below them is going to be a pretty easy target to gun down.

But this is coming from an individual that complains about older piston fighters being out of the "focus" of the sim (Even though there isn't one) and then complaining about the Huey and Hip in the same glob of a sentence.
