Salutations.

I think I must have some wrong controls set up for controlling turrets, because I simply cannot control them now.

I know about using CTR-C to switch positions, T to take control of turrets, and SHIFT-T to use the gun sights, but I simply cannot move the turret using my mouse.

Just about the only way I can "aim" a turret gun is by using Track IR to look where I want to aim, and pressing "T". This will turn the gun towards where I am looking with TIR, but once there I cannot move the gun.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

You probably accidentally unbound something in controls that was needed...

Try and go back to default bindings and test again, I bet it works.

I'd rather not have to rebind all my controls, unless there's a way to restore things.

But how about this: for those of you who can control the turret using the mouse AND are using TrackIR, what controls is your MouseY and MouseX bound to?

Thank you.

Would like to know also, I have exactly the same problem.

Yankee, do you have a problem with external directions view also ? Because me I'm still not able to watch what I want... ^^

Maybe it's related to.

Hm, just tried it in my Stuka, also have TIR5.

Ctrl-C, t, Shift-t works OK for me... aiming and shooting with mouse with no probs.

I can shoot with a turret but not control its orientation.

Solmyr to handle the turrets you have to set those lines "bow pilot head vertically" and" turn pilot head horizontally"  Dont set anything in turn gunner head horizontally or it will conflict ....see screenshot ;)

Thank you for your help, I now can turn horizontally both holding the turret or not, but still can't turn vertically, both holding the turret or not, following all your instructions. Then I tried to erase all other mouse control assignments, nothing different.

By the way, Why can't we find a "turn pilot head vertically" button ??

Thanks to you, my capacity to shoot down a enemy attacker improved a bit, but.. still unable to save my plane crew and drink some beers at mess with them ! ;)

Hum, Merci, 13, I'll try that out...

I might have been trying to bind the gunner head movements.

I've had problems like this.

Pressing "Shift + T", then "T" rather than vice versa, has always sloved the problem for me. I used to think something was bugged in the Stuka gunner seat especially.

Please, what commands are these "shift+T" and "T" linked to ?

For take control of  turret position you need (command names in bold):

Ctrl+C > Switch to a next free plane combat post  = change from pilot for turret (and for next turret in Pe-2, He 111... until go back to pilot position).

T > Turret: take/leave control =  Take control of MG

Shift + T> Turret: nestle to the gunsight = look through MG gunsight

And related are Shift+C > Switch to a next firing point in the current turret =  change MG from side in Pe-2 radio operator cockpit (they have only one MG to use in both sides windows of aircraft).

Anyone with this problem who's found a solution? I can't turn the MG vertically either. Horizontally is just fine, and I've checked to make sure nothing else is assigned to vertical.

Ok, thank you Sokol1, your answer helped me to finally get it :

There is a bug in the game that actually doesn't take into account the "Bow pilot vertically" and the "Turret, gunsight view : view vertical" commands when we set the -Y mouse, or maybe it's all the "-Y" assigned commands. By the way, it can be seen as when we're assigning the command, the game talks about your "-Y" assignment, and when you validate it immadiately after, then the "-Y" becomes "Y"... :/

In other words, I can set my commands in order to handle my gunsight in all directions, but only if I accept to raise up my mouse to get my gunsight nose going down, so with a "Y" axle. If I set the opposite "-Y", the game considers that I didn't assign any command.

Edit : After a bit more of "investigation", it clearly appears that it's all the -X and -Y command assignments that are imposssible at this moment. Sure the dev team is gonna solve this issue soon. :)

This bug almost made me crasy in my first few hours in the game. And I was right both problems are linked : I now, finally, of course am able to look my plane from all directions !

I simplified this "take turret control" for:

R = change crew position

T = take gun

Y= take aim

Keys are close and in sequence and not modifier key are used = ease and fast access.

Yeah... it's quite a problem, those turrets. If I link the pilot head's movements to the mouse, it also makes it move at any position, which interferes with TrackIR.

Would it be possible to only control the turret guns with the mouse instead of the head movements? It's also very disorienting.

This really needs to be changed.   I use my mouse to fire rockets and bombs and if I set up the controls to also be able to use the turrets then this causes the pilot head to jerk to no end when I try to use the mouse buttons to fire rockets or bombs.  The set up as is, doesn't make much sense.

Made a thread in the technical issues forums for this.
