Dakpilot Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 As many may be aware of (or not) Rise of Flight has Mods on mode, a mod activator built into the game, there are 340 or so (not including mapmaking and models) topics in the Mods section, many of the widely used ones have found their way onto the official RoF Mods site and a few have been integrated into the game Although it has been hinted at, that the same format will follow with BoS , I understand that Dev priority right now is for stabilisation/optimisation and to release the additional promised content (skins/Dserver/ME) , notwithstanding the roadmap discussion/reveal to come at the end of the year. I wonder if there is any comment to be had from those in the know about the possible future of Mods on in BoS? Here is a recent RoF mod which is in reality a very small effect, adding flowers to the fields, but highlights what I love about third party additions, it may seem insignificant and rarely seen, but would add greatly to that "immersion factor" most of us? want and enjoy. I know something like this is available in other titles, but that is not the point, but the fact is that it wasn't in RoF and now it can be Cant wait to do a forced landing into that field in an IL-2 or Heinkel Credits to the maker http://riseofflight.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=278&t=44650 here's hoping for lots of similar mods for BoS in the future, and the start of an enthusiastic modding community similar to RoF and other titles where anyone can add a bit of flavour for those who want to use it Cheers Dakpilot 1

Dakpilot Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 A very work in progress mod from RoF Cool to see stuff like this from modders in BoS (and RoF) in the future Cheers Dakpilot
Feathered_IV Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I asked about mods-on mode for BoS a month or so ago. Zak said that it would be added after the skin viewer and before the dedicated servers both of which are coming this month I think. Giving an outlet to creativity is a big part of what keeps a sim like this fresh. I noticed recently I had 400hrs logged in clod while making a new voice pack for it. Without that I'd hardly have played it once a year.
Dakpilot Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 Thanks for that info, which is very good (and important) news Cheers Dakpilot
HappyHaddock Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Thanks for giving my ROF wild flower mod a plug here. I've no particular interest in BOS as WWII doesn't float my boat (save perhaps if a simulator based on the Dehavilland Mosquito were released), but I've followed it's development greatly right from day one in the hope 777 might come up with exciting new stuff they could carry back to ROF. Clearly folk here would love 777 to focus all their attention on BOS, but I for one would love to see the team send a little love back to WWI so that a few unskilled amateurs like myself (plus one or two far more competent amateurs) weren't the only ones working on ROF. We were told that attention would be taken away from ROF until BOS was launched so I await with interest a promised announcement on future plans for ROF from the team now BOS is "on the shelves". Nevertheless "mods on mode" is a key part of ROF as there will always be things that make a big difference that just aren't worth the developers time, though with respect to the above flowers I've been amazed at the response to what amounted to no more than one hours unskilled work actually seems to have received from the ROF community - perhaps the little things really do make the biggest difference. Cheers HH 3
