N1SB.Jefu Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Hi all I recently upgraded myself from a Q6600 to a i5 4690k and a load of other goodies (SSD, buckets of RAM). I'm still using my old Sapphire Vapor-X HD 6850 1GB GDDR5, but want to go a little further and get a low/medium range upgrade for my GPU, roughly £100-250. Really after the best bang for buck card rather than spending more purely for longevity as I seldom play 'new' or state of the art games. I'm just about getting away with 30fps on high in BoS and would just like to push myself a little further. If anyone has any suggestions then I'd appreciate it! Edited December 8, 2014 by tehjefu
Dakpilot Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 GTX770 4GB can be had for very reasonable price but the best bang for buck is GTX970 but is above your price range, BoS really seems to prefer Nvidia and the drivers are updated for BoS Cheers Dakpilot

LLv44_Mprhead Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 In your budget, a good option would be Radeon R9 290, like one here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-TRI-X-Graphics-Card-PCI-E/dp/B00HFA44YQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418062217&sr=8-1&keywords=radeon+r9+290 GTX770 might be as good as r9 290 for BoS and maybe in some other titles also, but in general 290 is a faster card. But if you can get GTX 970, go for that. It does offer the best bang for the buck atm. And there might be some options that fit in your budget range also. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Palit-Nvidia-GeForce-Graphics-Express/dp/B00NPRH3P0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418062420&sr=8-2&keywords=gtx+970

N1SB.Jefu Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) Make sure you have the power supply necessary before you get one of those higher in your proce range cards! Still rocking a Corsair HX520W, it just had its 7th Birthday - it's a beast. I went with a MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB. Thanks for the help guys, I'll try remember to post in the right forum section next time Edited December 13, 2014 by N1SB.Jefu
Leaf Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) I'm stuck with an AMD Phenom 955 (basically a slightly more rubbish version of your CPU) and a newly purchased Nvidia GTX 760. I can now run the game at 8x AA on High at 50 fps. So yeah, I'd recommend the GTX 760. Fair price, great performance and all the included Nvidia goodies (FXAA, PhysX etc) Edited December 13, 2014 by 19te.Leaf
