-TBC-AeroAce Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Hello people, I have just come across a cheap pair of saitek Cessna rudder pedals, I only play aircombat Sims ans was wondering if getting them is a bad idea because of the way there pedals are designed, I do actually often play with my heels on the ground so was thinking they maybe ok for combat. Please let me know what u think espesially if u have used a pair with bos Thanks
Willy__ Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 If you have the chance of getting a pair of pedals, get it. It has some learning curve, but oh boy, after you get used to it you just cant fly without them. I currently use Saitek Combat Rudders and I must say: after TrackIR, it is one of the best investments I made.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) I have a pair of other old pedals, 'that's not my question, my question is about whether this particular pair are any good for combat Sims as they are based on general aviation design. I also know combat types may be better but I'm getting for a good deal so might consider them unless they are useless for combat ???? Edited December 7, 2014 by AeroAce

But I cant find a reason why it shouldnt work for combat, its a rudder pedal, the rudder mechanism is basically the same on war planes and civil planes. Anyways, I think any pedal set is better than the twist on the joy/having nothing. Edited December 7, 2014 by istruba
vonPilsner Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I think they will be just fine for combat, before you buy them make sure they work smoothly and that the toe brakes work.
Sokol1 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The base mechanism of Saitek pedals is the same for all models. The advantage of Cessna and Combat models is possibility to leave the heel on floor and movement the rudder with only foot tip movement. On PRO is need leave the entire foot over footrest, which makes the use most tiresome.
oneeyeddog Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I have the Combat rudder Pedals and I use them with my heels on the metal extensions that clip to the front of the pedal base and I push the pedals with my toes. This is comfortable for me and seems to work OK. This method should work with the Cessna pedals too as IIRC the only difference between the Combat Pedals and the Cessna pedals is the design of the pedal itself.

I use the Combats the same way, very comfortable.
voncrapenhauser Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I have a set of old CH rudder pedals, after getting my Solo pilots licence I just couldn't go back to joystick twist yaw....felt alien to me. Pedals are the way to go for sure for me.....but whatever floats your boat .
