Pringliano Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 After re-installing BOS yesterday, and experimenting wih t e ground handling of the Fw190, I noticed that it is now OK! I wasn't aware this had been addressed
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 It was mentioned in the last update that the ground handling had been improved, although you still have to use rudder correction while you increase the throttle and get the tail up, one other thing i have noticed is that the engine sound has improved. Cheers.
Pringliano Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 Indeed. I feel a bit ashamed of my "bashing" with the BOS fighters regarding ground handling.... For one, I am experiencing exactly the same problems in the DCS K4, with only the tailwheel lock mechanism being more efficient, probably because we are not over slippery runways like those ice-covered fields in BOS.... Also inflight I now really enjoy both the Bf109s and the Fw190 and am now able to dive without that strange kind of flick-roll we used to have Yesterady spent a good deal flying on two MP servers filled with players. Enjoyable as usual in BOS!
FuriousMeow Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 It's now OK compared to what? CloD and DCS? Well against my R/C airplane it was fine before. None of the above are relevant points of reference for the 190's ground handling. Besides, it really hasn't changed all that much.
Pringliano Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 It's ok according to what I see in youtubes of Fw190s, Bf109s and yes, also in DCS I do find it changed just the right amount to become realistic, specially if we do not forget to take into account what I do believe is indeed modelled in BOS, and must play it's role - the slippery surfaces we taxi and takeoff from! I still think that aileron trim tabs need more fine tuning for the aircraft to fly balanced in roll at a wider range of speeds, but then again I had to tweak the Dora in DCS, and am now asking for the same regarding the K4
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The physical behaviour wiht unlocked tailwheel is still more than questionable but other than that it seems fine. Hopefully they're going to rework the unlocked-tailwheel handling in future together with other minor FM issues.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I'm not being perverse here but iv never really had a problem. Maybe if u leave the power constant it can be hard, but all I do when I want to turn is drop the throttle back, slow a bit and the use rudder, break and a bit of a boost on the engine and it's fine. Maybe that should not be needed but if never really had a problem?
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Did you taxi it with unlocked tailwheel Aeroace? I find it hard to believe you referred to the same thing as me in this regard (otherwise you need to tell me your secrets of overcoming Bos physics)
-TBC-AeroAce Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I think locked then slow down unlock then start to turn the lock again, hard to explain just something I got a feel for
Pringliano Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 Also setting prop at Manual and to 12:00 helps. I don't know if this is realistic, but it certainly helps me with taxiing, locked or unlocked, compared to full auto mode...
stiboo Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Yes was improved along with A.I. FW190 behaviour in the last patch. the A.I. Fw190 pilots now actually take off! Wow!! But seriously folks.... Well done Devs for finally correcting some very silly A.I. behaviour
Matt Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 It was mentioned in the last update that the ground handling had been improved, although you still have to use rudder correction while you increase the throttle Where and when has this been mentioned? Behaves the same as before for me.
Pringliano Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 I noticed two difference in behavior: 1) While taxiing with the tailwheel locked ( stick back ) we no longer need to use unplausible amounts of ( permanent ) right rudder; 2) Inflight, pitch down at acceptable rates does no longer drive you into that weird "flick-roll"...
Willy__ Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) Yes was improved along with A.I. FW190 behaviour in the last patch. the A.I. Fw190 pilots now actually take off! Wow!! Instead now they lawndart to the ground. Just did a quick mission, me and a wingman on 190's against 2 pe2 and's 2 lagg3's, spawned all at 4,500m. While I proceeded on taking the bombers, I ordered my wingman cover me, as the laggs where chasing me, after that the laggs got behind him and the 190 AI decided to dive straight to the ground. LOL That's Historical Actually been Reading about a few occasions where Fw190 smashed into the ground after getting out of control in highspeed dives...
Willy__ Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) That's Historical Actually been Reading about a few occasions where Fw190 smashed into the ground after getting out of control in highspeed dives... I'm not saying its wrong or not historical. Its just stupid that the AI does that, as it is easy to avoid, just cut the throttle, or in some extreme cases deploy flaps/change the trim. Pringliano Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 I know istruba, was just making fun out of it
