=AVG=Zombie Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 So the skin viewer will be arriving soon, does that mean there are skins to work with all ready out for us to modify?
Yakdriver Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 (edited) Templates will be provided, those are files that you can modify to put paint on your plane. All you do is paint the plane like with an airbrush, and the techno bits and pieces, and the smoke effects are already in there. no need to paint every rivet, every screw. Simicro Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Practically, the Skin Viewer is a template to use to create custom skins? Why the word "Viewer"? Why not "Skin Template"? I ask to understand.
Dakpilot Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 You will get both when they are released Check out the Rise of Flight Forums skin section to get a sneak preview of how it all works..or something very similar or just wait and see, seems its coming soon Cheers Dakpilot
Yakdriver Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 i had similar questions... was confused why we need an extra program... ?!! here are some answershttp://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13047-skin-viewer-reason-existance/?p=204303
Simicro Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Thanks all. As I understand at this time, the devs will provide: 1) A template 2) A skin viewer which will allow to view a skin on a 3D model and pan around it without having to launch BOS
Jaws2002 Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 The skin viewer is a little app that uses models from the game and the lighting engine of the game, so you can see exactly how your skin will look in game without starting it. To easily make skin they'll also release photoshop layered template with all elements separated so you can make skins easy.
Zak Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Everything about skin making is similar to it in ROF.
Simicro Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 All right Jaws2002 and Zak, thanks. It's clear for me now. Got it.
A-E-Hartmann Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Zak ,The viewer is for today ? please please .....
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Everything about skin making is similar to it in ROF. The ROF templates are works of art, I'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into these ones! 1

D.B.Cooper Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Time to Dust off Photoshop... and install Nvidia plug ins... Then do a little research on Brushes for Photoshop etc.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) Hopefully it's going to work with Gimp as well unlike RoF. I fear it's going to se the same strange conversation methods though so I hope for the best Edited December 7, 2014 by Stab/JG26_5tuka
TG-55Panthercules Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Why isntall nvidia plugins? Probably so you can save the skin files down as .dds files - that's the way it works for RoF anyway. Hopefully it's going to work with Gimp as well unlike RoF. I fear it's going to se the same strange conversation methods though so I hope for the best I've never used GIMP (since I have PhotoShop) but there are a lot of people who have used GIMP to create skins for RoF and seem to do just fine with it.
Feathered_IV Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 There's an old version if Photoshop cs2 available for free these days from Adobe. It's no longer supported with updates but it works great. 1
SR-F_Winger Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Oh when oh when? I really cant wait to fly around in my own skin.
Feathered_IV Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 The older, free version of CS2 available here. http://www.techspot.com/downloads/3689-adobe-photoshop-cs2.html
