taffy2jeffmorgan Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Hi All. The Me 109's elevators seem slow to respond after increasing speed during a not to steep a dive,is this normal, and was it a characteristic of the 109, because it seem not as pronounced in other fighters. This is experienced either by the stick being pulled back or pushed forward. One other thing, in the new set of missions, I have noticed that some of the pilot commands don't seem to be working properly, they either don't show up on the screen when requested or the flight does the opposite, e.g tell flight to form V formation and they just fly in a circle, so have to tell them to return to mission, which they then do ? and I am following the command list from settings [ Left Alt+ ] Cheers. JM.
FuriousMeow Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I've noticed that with the 109 and 190 since a few patches ago you have to hit one tick up of horizontal trim - just one press of the button - for it to engage and actually be properly set. You'll notice an abrupt pull up of the 109 when you do that if you start in air. Just one press of the up horiz stab, and it'll nose up fairly quickly. Then you can adjust through the rest of the flight. I haven't noticed it being sluggish though. 2
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Thanks, I'll check it out. Edited December 4, 2014 by taffy2jeffmorgan
voncrapenhauser Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) I heard the early and some late 109's suffered with a weak elevator response especially in a dive, That's a characteristic and well modelled in this Sim. As Furious says correctly it can be sorted, .....took me a while to realise you don't have trim tabs like most planes its the entire horizontal tail,.....Fw190 too , just like the real aircraft .. Just like in most gliders ;-) we have a "Stabilator". And yes, indeed I had just posted at the DCS World forums comparing control stiffness with speed and Gs the way it is modeled in il-2 BOS as, IMO, more plausible than in many other sims I have used 1
PreachR Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 British pilots said that the 109s that they flew (testing) were very slow to respond in a dive. I think it's modeled pretty well here. Last time I flew a 190, it seemed a little too extreme, but I've heard that it's better now.

voncrapenhauser Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I found the elevator sluggish at VNE.......so sluggish I'm speaking to you from 6 feet under, needless to say that hurt lol
