Not able to use TrackIR

Hi guys, i'm playing BOS and the TrackIR 4 device.

I'm using also TrackIR on another game and it work just fine (DCS); but it looks like i' m not able to make TrackIR work in BOS...

any help?

Welcome to the Forums!

 

There have been a ton of threads/posts about TIR issues with BoS - some of the recent patches kinda messed things up and then fixed them, and spawned a bunch of threads about TIR.  I think TIR is working fine now in BoS for most people, so without knowing more about exactly what sort of problem you're having it's hard to assess what might be the answer.

 

Among other things, you mention you're using TIR4 hardware, but don't say what TIR software version you're running.  Based on what I've seen in the various TIR threads, it seems that your best bet is to update your TIR software to the latest version (5.2 something, IIRC) and tell it to update its list of supported games.  At that point, it should work in BoS, AFAIK (it's working fine for me with my TIR3 hardware and the version 5.2 TIR software).

 

If that still doesn't work, if you can post exactly what's happening (or not happening) and how your TIR is set up, somebody might be able to help you sort it out.

thanks for the help! the TrackIR software version is the latest one...the game si acting like no TrackIR is plugged in...i was thinking if there is some hotkey that is disabling/enabling it in the game...in DCS there is one for example (THe F9 key)....maybe this is what i'm missing...

I have the same problem as ArrowF. I've patched my TrackIR 5 to the latest version (5.2.2 Final) and I have both reinstalled the TIR software and verified IL-2 BoS on steam but it still doesn't work. But it works flawlessly in DCS, BMS, FSX and even IL-2 1946. There isn't much more to say since the game simply acts as if it isn't there. I think I recall having had a similar problem with 1946 but I think I just went into some .ini file and replaced an "off" with "on" or something and it has worked ever since. 

 

Also, my TrackIR used to work with BoS. It must have been in one of the latest patches something happened that caused it to stop working.

Well, I've been wanting to try out the new missions they posted so I decided to go in and make sure my TIR was still working.  Turns out it's still working just fine, and the first part of the first mission seemed to work just fine as well.  Unfortunately, I'm back to having the old Esc key bug problem - could not exit the mission and had to alt-tab out and shut BoS down manually.

 

Looks like I'll give it a pass till the next update and see if things get better.  Sorry about your TIR problems - I didn't do anything special about trying to get BoS to recognize my TIR, so I have no clue why it's working for some and not for others under what seem to be the same conditions.

i'm also having the ESC key problem!

I have the same problem. I have the latest software TIR works in DCS but in il 2 no response. HELP.

but i don't have Esc problem.

Sorry for the very late reply!

After that problem i have updated the game list once again and now the device work!

Probably my bad internet connection used to download a broken game list that was later repaired by re-downloading.
