[KWN]T-oddball Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I just spec'd this out for someone else as a mid-level build and thought I would post it here for anyone thinking of upgrading. (box only) http://pcpartpicker.com/user/T.Oddball/saved/mkMypg now...let the fighting begin
Bearcat Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Needs more RAM. I agree.. 16G is the sweet spot as far as RAM goes. I have 32G.. overkill.. but it was a sale... I could have done with the 16G. Drop the bank.. you won't regret it. Also for the HD I would consider this WD20EZ 2TB 64M Cache $69.99
Ala13_Kike Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 why one "non-K" CPU with a Z97 motherboard? Take a look at I5 4690k, easy to put at 4.5GHz, think whether the difference in price is worth for you. The difference to take CPU/motherboart to do or not OC at your system, in money, can implicate to take a better graphic card (GTX970, for example, iso R9 280). If you never will do OC, take a cheap moderboard, with chipset H97, this CPU (i5 4570), and the difference of money for one best and powerfull graphic card. If use will be only to play, 8gb of RAM will be good in all games, even using a 64bits OS.

I chose the Z97 because it is relatively cheap and provides future options as for why i did chose the K series is because most people don't over clock there CPU'S. go with a cheaper CPU (i5 4440) which I did ($20 cheaper)and then chose a H97 series MB ($22 cheaper) i will save about $42 dollars but that will not be enough to make up the difference between the $159 280 and the $329 970. the 970 is arguably the best bang for the buck but the 280 is the best bang for the buck in the sub $200 range. and it shows itself quite well http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1355?vs=1332 double the price but not double the performance %90 of the time If i
