II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 (edited) If you want to see the DF servers be more than just a giant furball in the middle of the map they need considerably more ground objects. And not near airfields as well. Destructible buildings would be great but just including the existing equipment will do for now. Trucks, guns, maybe a couple of tanks and definitely a couple of trains on every map, even if they are just static. I've watched Il2's working cooperatively and do good work and also draw a few German aircraft away from the hornets nest. After shadowing a couple of Fw's on a map, because I saw their pilot's high scores, I realized they were killing the very few (4-6 objects away from airfields) before jumping into the furball. I tried it too and had top points on a few maps with only one or two aerial kills. While we do need a better variety of ground targets in general, bumping the ground objects up to 20-30 (40-50?) objects per side would probably be more immersive/interesting and spread the battles out as bombers and ground attack aircraft have something to do. It would probably take a few weeks for everyone to start thinking, "Hey, we are losing because they are winning the ground fight," and start actively defending too. I know I've seen larger number of objects on the expert servers. I'm finding the Jabo work interesting now. I never did before and with more ground objects it would make the maps way more interesting. Even when I only have time to DF, jumping an Il2 sneaking in from the left flank is usually pretty interesting. I don't actually dogfight on DF servers, I'm a periphery BNZ guy, but hunting should be part of the fun - even with icons on. It'd be a really sneaky way to change the noob culture and get them to do something other than just yank a stick around all day. Might even convert a couple BNZ guys to Jabos.
