Blooddawn1942 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Oh my God!!!!!! Can´t wait for this to happen!!!!!
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) Ehhm, are we sure this is Star Wars? My though when I just saw the Millenium Falcion: "Jup, guess it is...". I mean it's just too strange to be taken seriously isn't it? Guess I'm not going to be too hyped for it than, even though it's Nr.1 on my must watch list for next year. Star Wars fans are loyal and I hope they can fulfill their expectation with this movie. Edited November 28, 2014 by Stab/JG26_5tuka

Matt Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I was a bit sceptic at first, but this looks very nice. Those X-Wings look neat. Also wow, no cartoon CGI monster anywhere in sight.
vonPilsner Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 George Lucas is terrible at writing dialogue and fails frequently at basic filmmaking things (pacing, tone, editing). I suspect JJ will make a better film than Lucas would have. 1
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 George Lucas is terrible at writing dialogue and fails frequently at basic filmmaking things (pacing, tone, editing). I suspect JJ will make a better film than Lucas would have. That's some pretty tough critique. Personally I enjoyed both trilogies, though I feel shamefull the only one I saw in cinema was III. Anyway I don't try to judge a movie awaiting more than 1 year of making by a 1 min teaser. What puzzles me is what they intend to "tease". I guess they just tryed to show off as much new stuff as possible to messege "Hey, this is all new Star Wars, you've nerver seen this before!". Infact the only things related to old Star Wars were the Starfighters (shouldn't they be fairly aged by the time the movie takes place already?) and Tatooine. If they didn't include those I had though myself "That's definetly fake". It's probably going to be a long movie if they intend to provide a proper connection between both trilogies. The fact they grabbed all famous actors of the old trilogy gives some hope for the story to come. Just hoping it to be not 90% CGI action with no story nor background. It doesn't deserve to follow the modern trend, not incase of Star Wars. 1
johncage Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 the crossguard lightsabre looks kind of dumb.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Thats the kind of stuff I mean It's supposed to be all new, all cool ect. but for me it seems to fail in it's concept. Let's wait and see what kind of story the director pulls out of his hat. Infact if they screw this movie it'll screw the whole trilogie and probably doom both previous trilogies. I have to admint the new stormtroopers look quite interesting. Let's hope Lucas can use his Jedi mind tricks to make it great.
Feathered_IV Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Abrams is certainly a far better director than Lucas, so I'm hopeful that the film will be entertaining. However I hope it doesn't follow the "chase the madman" trend that most Star Trek films seem to take. The last couple have seen Kirk and Spock beetling about the universe like a sort of interstellar Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. No matter how big the threat or how vast the distances, the solution always seems to come down to a bare knuckle fist fight.
DD_bongodriver Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I can't help feeling they are trying the same trick as BOS, alienating the original hard core fan base with new gimmicks to appeal to a new generation, stormtroopers that look like they were made by Apple, fancy new X-wings?
Matt Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 It plays 30 years after the original trilogy. I'm glad they didn't use the same old stormtrooper and X-Wing design (those X-Wings actually look closer to the concept than the old ones). The cross guard of the lightsaber actually makes sense, if the name of the group of bad guys which is floating around is actually correct. Which it seems to be now. The screen writer also worked on Empire and Jedi (but also some pretty bad movies). I doubt that continuity will be a huge issue or that this movie will go a route similar to the newest Star Trek movies. Anyway, i did not expect much, but now i'm really looking forward to watching it in a year.

FS_Fenice_1965 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Take in consideration that 30 years is not su much for an airplane aging in the jets era. F16, Mig 29 and Tornado are from the seventies.... Not so strange then to see the xwings again with similar shape 30 years after death star end
Emgy Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Hamill appeared on ITV breakfast show TV-am more than three decades ago in the year the final instalment of the original trilogy, Return of the Jedi, appeared in cinemas. In the interview, Hamill suggests with Jedi-like prescience that Skywalker will return to the big screen about a decade into the 21st century. “He [George Lucas] said once would I consider playing an Obi-Wan [Kenobi] type character handing Excalibur down to the next generation,” Hamill explained. “At the time I said, ‘When would that be?’ and he said, ‘Oh, around 2011.’” http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/nov/28/star-wars-7-the-force-awakens-mark-hamill-predicts-plot-in-1983

Not so strange then to see the xwings again with similar shape 30 years after death star end Sure but you have to consider the X-Wings were already aged by the time of Episode VI . The Alliance in general used aged and limited equipment unlike the empire threwout the saga. It's pretty much lookign like "lets grab some of Luca's stuff and give it a facelift - tada, there's your new Star Wars movie!" that way. Doens't mean it has to be bad, just not very rational. Also technological advance played an important role in the first trilogy.
kissklas Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I loved the trailer:) Yeah, the tech might not have changed as much in the last 30 year. Star Wars is a futuristic dystopia and a dark ages type world. At least in episode 4 and out. The Xwing has changed though, so there is some advancements in tech.
SOLIDKREATE Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 They show us this and it's a whole year away? = FAIL.
Blooddawn1942 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Sure but you have to consider the X-Wings were already aged by the time of Episode VI . The Alliance in general used aged and limited equipment unlike the empire threwout the saga. No, that´s not true. They were brand new in Episode IV. They replaced the ancient Z-95 Headhunter. Not sure how much time passed from Episode IV until the end of episode VI. But take it for granted, that at the end of VI, the X-Wings were absolutely state of the art. Those Y-Wings were outdated and replaced by the more capable and resilient B-Wing. In episode VI the A-Wing was introduced, but this was more like a reconaisance and scout fighter. It has an different combat role then the X-Wing.
Blooddawn1942 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 BTW, 777 should create an successor to X-Wing/ T.I.E. - Fighter!!!!!!! 1
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 (edited) Well either way going ahead cuttting some bits out of it's wing and presenting it as "new" tech isn't the way to make it appear improved or more modern. Same can be said about the sabre but we might lack the inside to judge it's purpose properly, only the looks (which is just totally strange). BTW, 777 should create an successor to X-Wing/ T.I.E. - Fighter!!!!!!! Oh yea let's redesign Stalingrad to Hoth and add some X-WIngs, TIE fighters and At-ATs. Guess that'll bring financial profit they have never even dreamed about Edited November 29, 2014 by Stab/JG26_5tuka

indiaciki Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I want this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p44pcTXpPOs and I want it so bad...
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 S! Except that rolling droid it was OK I guess. And no Jar Jar Binks! Lucas dropped the ball hard on the new trilogy, Revenge of the Sith was getting there, but the end..sigh. I hope they drop the childish stuff from the movies, the struggle is a struggle.

Feathered_IV Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 The tattooine bit at the start of the first trailer has a touch of Blazing Saddles to it.

This thread is about the first trailer for the new Star Wars movie. Do we really have to bring our feelings about the state of BoS into it? This isn't the thread to talk about that sort of thing.

This isn't the thread to talk about that sort of thing. it was my feelings on the new star wars movie by equating it to an aspect of BOS, its a Star Wars thread on a BOS forum so the 2 things are totally relevant. 1
Volkoff Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) Dang these X-Wings look great! I really like the new X Wing design. She is very sharp looking! The good old Millennium Falcon, now with the new dish, well rectangle thingie, looks great, too. MJ Edited December 2, 2014 by =69.GIAP=MIKHA
