Veteran66 Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) Hi all Note this missions are make for Flight Sim Veterans, what mean you need to navigate and find the enemy`s. I use only the O Map ingame, it make more fun to navigate as like fly up the waypoints For the fps, i know the missions are hard for all PC`s my System is: CPU 3.07GHz 12 Giga Ram Win7 64 Bit GeForce GTX 680 Mainboard ASUS P6T Soundkarte Onboard Sorry for all who have bad fps with his systems. The first Mission and Mission 5. With this Missions i will show how nice add`s BoS have, i read many wishes for Missions here in the Forum, one is "drive with car to my airplane" so i look for a way to make this in BoS. Ok it is not the best implementation, but it works, when the Mission start. Switch "Pause" so the mission start, you see the video clip, after this you get a overview from the airfield, than you "fly" to your car. The car bring you to the Bf109er look for the engines (all on) this is a bug i reported to the Dev team but i not find the error (for me it works fine only one tester hat proplems like some from here) after car drive you fly to the cockpit start your engine and drive to start. This is the next problem, some airplanes find not the way or need some minutes to get ready to start. After radio call from Airfield "ready to start" you can play the mission without problems (i hope) For all who have problems with this car start i make the Mission 1 and 5 without cardrive, get my hotfix and play it (sorry for my bad english) Hotfix: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x3ij0kipbv95ltx/ChirFrontMissions29.11.14Hotfix.rar Why should I need to create an acount to get the Hotfix?! oh i do not know this, it is not free for all? A-E-Hartmann Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Why should I need to create an acount to get the Hotfix?! There are no need to register for downloading .
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 S! Flew the first mission. Bagged 3 x IL-2's and one Yak-1, but got damaged radiator so headed towards base. Had to bail a bit before base as engine cooked off. A lot more going on there than in the stock campaign, looks more immersive. The starting "movie" was a nice touch as well. I bet we will get more goodies like this when FMB is finally released. Great job there Veteran! The mission just made it obviously clear the limited drawing distance of the game engine Popping in smokes and craters etc. did not exactly add to immersion, at all. From distance an airfield looked good, but when zoomed in the craters popped into view etc. Urgh.

For me it's great to have a "bird's eye view" of the airfield, because taxiing around I often get lost! I also like many of the details - for instance the fires at the end of the runway help with taxiing to the right place. Lots of details. I like the semi-destroyed villages along the front line, the activity and firefights on the ground. The radio messages. There is so much that has been put into these missions. And I love the map, with the different frontline markings, and the arrows. It's like looking at a history book, and adds to the urgency. With the first mission we had to get those IL2s, because they were bombing our boys. And I could see their targets, and see how they were lining up for their attack runs. Great stuff. So, many thanks for all the work. [but gents: don't apply the hotfix! The "cinematics" in mission 1 is really cool! ]
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 S! I had the cinematics even after applied the hotfix. 7Zip is a handy unpacking and packing program
AndyHill Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 In RoF the half speed thing seems to happen when your CPU can't handle the number of active units anymore. It would be interesting to know how many we're talking about in BoS when people start getting problems?

SCG_Neun Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) These missions are just the boost this game needed and I can't imagine just how much time these took. The creativity with the opening, the extra radio traffic, the tanks battling in the distant and calls for air support. Burned out aircraft next to the runway......Nice touch. I thanked him via PM...but just felt the need to post how much I am enjoying flying again in BOS. Edited November 30, 2014 by JagdNeun 5
Blitzen Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Just played the first mission and really enjoyed it - thanks for putting this together! Blitzen, try pressing the letter "O" to bring up the briefing, which brings up a helpful (to me at least) size map. I don't think he made any waypoints with the missions, so you basically have to navigate on your own. Autopilot only circles around (I guess) if there are no waypoints to fly to. I just headed toward the area on the map which indicated 'the front' (red arrows showing army movement, hashed red/blue type lines for the front, etc) and patrolled around there until something happened. The briefing (or maybe the voiceover?) says something to the effect of 'patrol the southwest area' so I patrolled more around that part (the bottom) of the front. Great tip & it worked ! Ditto Sokol1! Was able to fly to where the action was & amid the action was jumped & killed by a Yak I never even saw until the tracers were whizzing past my cockpit!
Crump Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 In the RAF jargon we use Angels as a measure of altitude in thousand feet. Angels 50 would therefore mean 50 000 ft, which is... Err... A bit too high for WW2 bombers How does the Luftwaffe refer to altitude in codenames? I am not familiar with german fighter pilot jargon... IIRC, "Kirchturm _____________" was used in a similar fashion as Angels to report altitude in the Luftwaffe. It literally means "steeple" in reference to a church steeple. "Kirchturm geilcher" meant you were at the same altitude as the enemy for example.
PA-Sniv Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 First post updated: Veteran66 released a new version of his Chir Front mini-campaign (ChirFrontMissions30.11.14.rar - includes previous hotfix). Cheers,
Yakdriver Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) Think about it, 1946 how many years after the original IL2 was that released? You are comparing things from a sim that had fully matured to a first up effort from a brand new sim, some of your comments are quite rude after all the maker of this campaign has put a lot more work into it, than you have into your posts. Your not being a non conformist you are simply conforming to the behaviour of others as rude as yourself. Okay then FB. in there you could actually make AI Guys behave, function, take action too. That was right at the beginning of "1946" i am always "conforming" to someone else. we are 7 Billion on this planet, and several hundred on this forum, and it does not matter what i do, somewhere someone is doing the same as i am. I never claimed to be unique, i said i try to blend in. Thank you for confirming my conforming worked. Edited December 2, 2014 by Yakdriver
PA-Sniv Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 FB was released 2 years after original IL-2, if I'm not mistaken. Let see what BoS will be in 2016! Cheers,
Marq_Tex Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Thx Veteran66 for this nice work. Probably will be a wonderful simulator...keep your path devs. Do not forget the summer map
Bussard_x Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 (edited) Sorry I do not want to be rude but I do not like the missions. There is a lot of mess on the airfield, too much I think. AI is not taking off. The coordinates given by radio do not make sense. Unsuitable for low end PC's. You can not call this a campaign. These are just single missions. Edited December 3, 2014 by Bussard
Sokol1 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 The radio calls inform map sectors (quadrants), example 411-5 is quadrant 411 and 5 (in numpad "code") is middle of quadrant. I fly 2 these missions and AI planes did his tasks. BTW - The true is, flight simulators, specially combat, never been suitable for low end PC's.
SCG_Neun Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) The missions play very well for me....I get just a bit of slow motion effect as I approach a congested air battle area and I have had to adjust my timing on closing shots because of this. Nothing too choppy...just enough to throw off my timing a bit. I've collided twice now with aircraft....Once I was shit out of luck, but the other time.....I ditched near some friendlies who gladly picked me up and delivered me to a base where I caught a transport back to my home base. They had already been through my foot locker and divided up my extra clothing and my Eleanor Roosevelt pin up poster was gone as well...... Edited December 4, 2014 by JagdNeun

Toxin1 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 These missions are very well made and exactly what the doctor ordered for the current lack of community-made content. I am really enjoying the atmosphere and added immersion. I hope that the game will be further optimized to eliminate the slowdowns during the engagements. Thanks again for creating such a great set of missions! S~ 1
13Nrv Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 A big big thanks veteran ...i m really enjoying your missions , and waiting for some more to come Regards 13
TaX Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 (edited) Thank you very much for the hard work. Have to try this out asap. Edited December 5, 2014 by TaX
Blitzen Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I know it has been mentioned but I haven't seen an answer :is there ever going to be a record or statistics on 3rd party campaign careers, something like the "Official" BoS campaign? Perhaps with "real" medals instead of the, nice as they are ,but still "Cracker-Jack" medals we get in that singular "Official" campaign...but above all a scorecard at the end of the day would make my day!
Gambit21 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Hey neighbor. Time will tell - that's the only answer right now.

6./ZG26_Gielow Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) Wow !!! I played the first mission full real this morning and I had a blast !!! No aids but the map and comms. I shot down an IL2 and got my oil radiator leaking. I managed to land on the north airfield through a huge smoke column with my windshield almost zero visibility. This first mission really shows what this game is capable of !!! Grats Veteran and 1C Team !!! Edited December 8, 2014 by =[Coffin]=Gielow
Blitzen Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Check this out http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13379-release-bosparser-bos-after-action-report-application/ Cheers Dakpilot Not bad...but actually I'd like something more like this: This is of course from Cliffs of Dover and is from one of several "pay-for" Campaigns from the Germasn Disastersoft one-man-show.To my rather imperfect knowledge these are the only campaigns in CloD hat utilize all the possibilities that CloD has;,not only involving the widely different missions and the mega amount of ground objects ,but the utilities in score keeping & medal earning shown above. As everyone knows not everything is perfect in CloD ( and in consequence not everything is what i might like in the Disastersoft missions either) but thanks the ATAG it is alot better than it once was & Disasresoft fully exploits the new features.I think BoS could learn alot about making a great campaign by having a look-see.
Veteran66 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Desastersoft is not a "one-man-show" it is a small Team, i was a part of it

You have done fine work ( although I do wish for a Stuka camapaign as well even though id real life the stukas had only a short life on the channel.) My point ( and it is a compliment to you & the others at Disatersoft) that BoS needs something very like what you have done for BoS- I'd buy it!

Wandalen Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I hope we will see more missions from your great work Veteran. I only got 2 missions left from the mini campaign, think i save them for my x-mas hollyday :-D
Guest deleted@1562 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Are you still involved with Desastersoft, Veteran? If so, please convince them to do a BoS campaign. Your Erprobungsgruppe Bf-110 campaign is still very fondly remembered by me. Closely followed by the ZG.26 campaigns.

I can`t speak for him, but note, CloD and BoS are two different game Engines and Editor`s so you can not switch from one to other. Let`s wait what the time bring.

Grancesc Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I own and played all Desastersoft campaigns, starting with the original IL-2 1946 add-ons “Fall Blau” to “Eismeerjäger” and later all the CloD add-ons. They belong to the best what WWII flightsims can offer. What masterpieces they could create based on such a good product like BoS, we can only guess. Congratulation Veteran66, if you were part of this team. Your little BoS campaign builds on these glorious times. S!
Veteran66 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) Hi Skinners I need 8 skins for the Raven and Falcon Schwarms, it is the III./JG3 with Bf109G (maybe only the winter skin with numbers?) So i can put the skins in the Chir Front Missions next time (work for a small missions updat) Edited December 24, 2014 by Veteran66 1
