Not everyone bought premium though. Founder includes normal preorders aswell.

Better wait for that until early access gets running, probably still people waiting eighter to buy or even activate.

No, not as a percentage, but it is a decent injection of cash for a game that isn't even in Beta yet.

Even if only 1500 preorder this game

1500x89.99 = 134985

1500x49.99 = 74985

that is still much.

You forget that much cost is to create a game engine but to tweak a finished game engine to learn WWII cost not much. To made planes like CloD that cost much but to made planes that we have seen with the Live-Stream not. I see there no problem. Some waiting to see the Alpha/Beta or waiting to bought the finial game after the preview of the game. Some are shocked after the preorder of CloD and wait for the final game to see if its not like CloD.

About everyone active at these forums has gone for the prerelease. You can't really expect some spambots to order. ;)

by looking forum numbers i was expecting they have at least 3000-4000 orders :)

Visually the game looks really great, models and terrain. But it(I hate to say this)seems like ROF with a WWII winter overlay. I've spent alot money on ROF. It just seems strange paying for the same general flight sim experience twice. I see new 'genre' features(dynamic weather fronts, pov changes, cockpit fx, ambient ground crews, etc.) then I'll be all over it. Until then I'll wait until it goes on sale.

I was thinking exactly the same thing watching the live stream.Money for me just now is very, very tight and with a lot going on in the sim world at present,I have missed out on a lot of  bargains. :(

On a brighter note,if this fly's as good as it looks, which it probably will, then it will definitely be a sale for me.

This i find interesting, because this is EXACTLY why I pre ordered, I love RoF and with the new added Genre of WWII, its a win win for me.  and bTW what are Cockpit FX?

Bullet holes/cockpit damage perhaps? I know RoF doesn't have it, but I assume BoS will. I thought long and hard before pre ordering, because I have RoF, and spent more on it than any other game before, but have not even really played it for months. But I support new flight sims, so there you go.

1400 seems a low number to me, but I assume a lot have not activated yet.

Topic title is outdated, there are more than 1600 by now. This is 1600 paying for alpha- and betatesting. And it's still up for sale. I really think that's good.

Yes, cockpit effects would be particle effects meant for the pilots POV: fuel fumes, broken plexi, smoke, sparks, etc.

RoF does have cockpit damage, but it's only in the Felixstowe, and even then it's just limited to the windscreen itself. However, BoS definitely has cockpit damage such as cracked cockpit glass and busted gauges. It was one of the things I looked for when I played the alpha.

Nice. Thanks for the info mate. However, i do hope that DM would be greatly improved in BOS because sometimes, in ROF, planes would fall apart like they are RC planes....yes, i know, they were wood and canvas but.....

We asked the cockpit damage question when playing the alpha as well and the answer was definitely a YES.

That's kinda my point guys. Cracked plexi, cracked gauges, we've seen all that...for years now. We've never seen actual particle effects designed specifically for the cockpit though, or life like ground personnel walking to and from sheds and hangars, or a storm rolling in, etc, etc. BOS will definitely hands down be the shit, but I was kinda anticipating something totally new when I heard these guys were working together.

Keep in mind what they told us from the get go when this thing was announced.

They had to produce a released product in less than a year, more like app 9 months or so.

They had limitations on what all they could work on, and were doing their best to bring us a really good product , as a core product more or less. More less pressing things, can be added through updates later on. Much like they have been in ROF.

I have little doubt - as long as this product IS successful after release, we will be seeing more good things - many of which folks have been speaking about on these forums - continue to be added to the sim. I guess I look at it more  like they need to walk before they run.

From all the excitement I have seen on these forums, all the positive comments from the vast majority of members here, I am very confident this product will be a big success for them out the chute, and that will bode very well for us.

When looking at the members list with the filter set to join date it's quite surprising how many of us signed up on 12-11-12. I thought I was one of the early members but the were dozens, if not more who signed up before me. I also noticed many of those haven't posted at all or very few times. They could well have preordered but if they don't hang out here regularly then that would skew the numbers also.

Posted

Yep I signed up as soon as I saw the official announcement over on the Cliffs forum

Have been frequenting here ever since, in fact the last few months this has become my most frequented forum.

It certainly has been a nice ride so far!

There's still several months to go before the product's release, so expecting it to be fully fleshed out is premature at this time. We are only seeing the beginning, what is actually released is still at least 7 months of development away.

Remember, this is pre-alpha in the live streams. Premium members get to try out the alpha product. Expecting ground breaking things right now just doesn't make sense, they are trying to get the core functionality in place, then the pretty and shiny come later.

Spring release date! Closer to then is when you should expect the product to have new and exciting features, capabilities, etc. Not now.

this sim is on track, and maybe doing better in presale than they thought

the difference between this and RoF is WWII vs WWI - it might look similar in terrain and environments, but those things should look similar - I wouldn't want the world to look different just by looking at it through two different windows

...the world is the world

I bought this for three reasons -

1) it looks like and is built by the same team that made RoF, plus a few allstars from 1c

2) its WWII

3) 777 - that means it will get done and it will be made with the flight simmers best interests in mind

I did that, basically you get a refund and have to purchase the premium rather than just upgrading your standard edition.

Ok, good to know, thanks. I hope they will give me details tomorrow.

Let's not forget 777 and 1C must have had a budget of their own to start all up in the first place. Preorder program is just a hint if community is interested in the project, plus ability to know if there will be people ready to test the game and find issues prior to release.

Glad to find out there will be pilots in the air and we shall have some aircaft to shoot down while being hunted.

I want my FW-190. Main reason for premium preorder.
