avlSteve Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Not even interested in the slightest about combat, but very interested in aviation. Can't afford a Mooney, so settle in on flight simulators WAY back. Mainly MS Flight Simulator, several versions. Using the nav equipment, almost always flying out of KAVL in a 172. I feel fairly comfortable navigating in my back yard. Occasional divergence into MS CFS or Aces Over Europe or whatever, always SP, but the experience was so far from being an achievable goal that it didn't grab me too hard. Then IL2. MP and all. Mostly a lone wolf, afraid to take a shot because I'm not 100% sure it's a bandit. This is serious business. All the way, I'm a cold start in parking on full blown expert kind of guy, whichever one. Then BOS. And the 32 player limit. And the expert servers are full. So I pop on over to a normal server. Alright, then. Let's do this. 1
Y-29.Silky Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I like your style. I usually try to join when they're full anyways. It only takes a couple fails before I get in, in a short time.. I can't fly normal servers. Constant head-ons are not my thing.
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 May I just say that backwards progression is called regression? Thanks. As you were.
MartyS Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 May I just say that backwards progression is called regression? Thanks. As you were. Wrong. Backwards progression is progress in the opposite direction of your previous heading. It is the total distance between your start to the apex of your previous progression, plus the distance between that apex and your current position. Regression is the removal of your previous progress. It is the total distance between your start and your current position.
FlatSpinMan Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Two posts, and what a funny one the second one was.
avlSteve Posted November 28, 2014 Author Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) I might survive 2/3 of my flights, or maybe it's only half. Not sure if I've shot someone down yet, I think I might have. Sometimes I get to the action just in time to take a hit and head straight back to base. I thought it might actually help with my dogfighting, being immediately in the action. Any practice is better than none, I guess. I do mind being killed several times in a row, though. Maybe I'll get used to it. I really do despise the icons all over the place. SharpeXB Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) I really do despise the icons all over the place. Certainly icons are the greatest reality killer in a flight sim. I prefer to play online without a big colored "Shoot Me" sign hovering over my plane. Even the most simple type of real tactics vanishes from the game when every plane can be seen and recognized instantly. There's no way to make surprise attacks or lose an attacker.
