Y-29.Silky Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 A photo of P40C ‘58’ from 20gvIAP after a ‘Taran’ (intentional air collision to bring down another aircraft – often fatal). Note the ‘58’ is in the same style as the ‘53’. These marking type were often individual to each unit. http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/english/articles/sheppard/p40recovery/
AndyJWest Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 'Half a wing'? Almost the entire wing, with just the tip missing.. 1
sallee Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 It's the one on the other side he's talking about. 2
avlSteve Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 It's the one on the other side he's talking about. Caught me off guard. Had to get a roll of paper towels real fast to clean my keyboard and monitor.
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 S! Says this about repairs on the plane: "..particularly to one wing tip (according to V. Romanenko, it could be the result of a ramming attack)..". So did not lose both wings and return home.
Y-29.Silky Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 (edited) Well lets just be literal here, shall we? Don't mind that it's impressive and it happens in the game. Edited November 27, 2014 by Silky
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 S! Can happen in any game just because they are games. In real life losing a wing usually made the pilot bail out in a hurry. A lot fewer instances of them returning home than going down. Impressive in RL, in a game everyday business almost.
-NW-ChiefRedCloud Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Nice find Silky .... thanks Chief
