6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) First you need to get your plane prepared for taxiing: 1. Set fuel mixture to 100% (fully rich) 2. Close radiator flaps completely 3. Set RPM leveler to max. 4. Tailwheel locked (adviseable for beginers) For taxiing use low RPMs and keep throttle changes smooth. For start use 1500 RPM and for continues taxiing 1100-1200. For changing direction you need to take some basic elements into account: 1. By pulling the stick you apply additional ground pressure on the tailwheel, means your plane will tend less to brake sideways when rolling straight but be more difficult to turn with the rudder. 2. By pushing the stick you apply less ground pressure on the tailwheel, means your plane will steer sideways easier when using rudder. Than you have braking for additional steering. Keep brake usage to a min and make small inputs of brake only to correct ground spin tendencies or going into a turn. On russian aircraft the wheelbrake you push your rudder towards will get more braking pressure than the opposite one. Before braking be sure to have neutral to small rudder input. Now you have the tailwheel lock. Very usefull for going around sharp corners but difficult to handle when taxiign straight. Once unlocked remember using your stick to minimize ground spinning tendencies when taxiing around a corner. It's also important to have constant revs to provide your rudder with an effective airstream. Remember, once you cut your engien your rudder has no authority anymore. If you keep those points in mind and practise it a lot you'll get into the pace of taxiing. It basicly works the same for all planes with the Focke Wulf being an exception. Hope this is helpfull at all. Edited December 21, 2014 by Stab/JG26_5tuka
