Ok, this problem happens whenever I exit the sim UI or change settings in the UI and it restarts.  The executable crashes.  Has done so since first beta and still does it every single time.

I have reinstalled clean at least 20 times.  I have changed drivers, DX, the lot.   I have turned every setting on and off.  It still does it.  I have tried the nVidia Full screen.  Nothing has worked.

I have had several support tickets and after the first response to tell me to reinstall DX etc. (which I have already done 10x), they stop responding also.

V. 1007 doesn't fix it either.

Any end to this issue or have the devs given up on this problem.

It is the launcher.  It will not close. It stops responding and I need to end the process in task manager every time.

Just a thought - have you tried running the game from the main executable instead of from the launcher?  (i.e., from "C:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\Il-2.exe" instead of "C:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\Launcher.exe")?

Thanks yes.  The crash is actuality from the .exe.  My mistake, its not the launcher.   It is also happening with ROF, since their last update.   No other software does this.  Weird.

- exit all unnecessary processes. . The normal number of processes for Win7 -32 -40 pieces.
take a look at this article:

Thank you Mehovushka.  I found it!  Both BOS and ROF do not like CHStart.exe as a startup program.  This should be fixed as it is a joystick/hardware software.  I have the latest CH software version 4.55a installed.

Ok, I have the cause nailed down. It is not CH software after all. It crashes when you have more than 8 controllers. Both BOS and ROF crash when you exceed 8 controllers. I understand the game may not recognize more than 8 controllers, like many other games, but it should not crash.

I have a 100% crash rate on exit as well using just 2 controllers (X-52 Pro and TrakIR5) ignoring mouse and keyboard . RoF does not have this problem. Systems specs as follows: Win 8.1, I5-4690, GTX 770 (2GB), 8GB DDR3 PC1600, 256GB SSD, Z87X motherboard. I have nothing but drivers and windows stuff running in the background. I do not use Saiteks programming software either.

Track IR should not be in the Game controllers list.  Its not in mine.  Go to devices and printers, right click on your joystick and select game controller settings.  See how many devices  are in that list.  Next unplug one at a time any devices present and test each for BOS crashes.

Just a single device there, the X-52 Pro that's plugged in and there aren't any ghost devices as far as I can tell. Unplugging that obviously isn't an option. This is a clean install of Win8.1 and is fully up to date. I guess the big question is who doesn't this happen to? Because as said, a clean install of win8.1 and updated, the game crashes every single time on exit. Not exactly hard to reproduce. My hardware isn't exactly exotic either as you can see from my previous post. All very standard stuff.

I realize you can't unplug it to fly, but you should unplug it, enter the game and exit to see if it still crashes.  Then you will know if the X-52 causes it or not.  If its not the X-52, do a clean boot.  If that clears it, then it is one of the processes in the background.
