senseispcc Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Are there manuals or are there no manuals in this game? Are the manuals going to be provided in a near future? In what form shall we get this manuals if they do or shall be created? Shall there be one or more, flight, FMB(?), campaign or shall this always be a game for the elite how do not need a manual and have time to learn by their own?! Or finally is the dev. team waiting until someone of the outside create this “manuals” (and not from Barcelona). 3
Trooper117 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 (edited) There are whole sections and tutorials that individuals have made regarding all aircraft in the game. Look in the 'Tutorials and Manuals' section (strangely enough) Edited November 22, 2014 by Trooper117
dburne Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 The manual for ROF is excellent - and was done by Luke FF for them, who is active here as well - not sure though if he is doing one for BOS or not.
Trooper117 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Luke... in British Army parlance, you have been 'shit dropped' ... lol!

Charlo-VRde Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I thought I saw LukeFF confirm he is working on the official manual, but I may be wrong. It's a very large job that takes great effort to do well, so I hope I am right that Luke is working on it.
cichlidfan Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Having a manual prior to releasing the game is usually considered a good practice, a long time afterwards...not so much.

It's a very large job that takes great effort to do well, so I hope I am right that Luke is working on it. I remember seeing Jason say that he would hire Luke to do the job. Having a manual prior to releasing the game is usually considered a good practice, a long time afterwards...not so much. I bought BOS on 1st november and was surprised too that there was no manual. However with the easy-to-use interface and the tutorials and help of the community it's OK for me. But I am still expecting a manual in the future.
senseispcc Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 (edited) I find it strange that a game is launched without any manual(s) and is expected to be understood be all?! I did preorder the game and so found it normal there where no manuals at that time but now it is official and the game is out for all to play I find this strange at least. No full mission build, no maunals, no skin building and placement possible and the developement team expect to make a lot of money of it?! I fear for the future of this great simulator?! Are you making a statement or asking a question? Like Jason has said elsewhere, they haven't received a lot of reports from people unable to understand how the game works and there are a lot of good third-party guides out there, so there isn't an urgent need to create a manual right now. There's also the fact the interface and certain gameplay elements were in a state of flux right up until the release date, so it didn't make sense to author a manual that would likely have had out-of-date elements when it was published. It a question but in a certain way also a statement, this because for me manuals are still a way to attract new players to this very little world of the flying simulators and when I see a wonderful flight simulator without one I fear many peoples could be afraid or maybe not interested to buy it. It is also a question if you buy a new game you should first RTFM (read the fucking manual) and I hope there shall be one so I ask the question is there a manual or manuals? Once again this are not manuals and does not the gob of manuals of explaining in a professional manner all the aspects of the game but some tricks from the users to other users?! Not that this videos do not have any value, they have, but you must search and most important find the good ones without being certain they are the ones you should follow and that they are complete! More so a written manual as more value for the learning of things because you always can go back to them and easily find a topic while a video let you an impression with more difficulties to find back the detail you want. So a book or manual can give you all détails at once all other forms of Learning is a support but nothing else. Edited November 24, 2014 by senseispcc
Jason_Williams Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 As Luke mentioned above a comprehensive User Manual will come at a later date. The reasons he mentioned above are from me as to why I have not released a manual yet. If you check the ROF manual you will see it is very comprehensive and it takes quite a while to produce. Jason 2
Simicro Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Thanks Jason. No matter when the manual comes. Provided that it comes it's fine for me

senseispcc Posted November 29, 2014 Author Posted November 29, 2014 Why "Manuals"? To find the meaning of this and this is not a single and exceptional example; Where can I find the meaning of this symbol or any symbol used in the game in one place without opening my internet explorer going on the net and find after many hours of research the correct article about this topic in some obscure forum?
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 29, 2014 1CGS Posted November 29, 2014 senseispcc, you are unclear on the concept here. A manual will eventually come, when Jason has determined the game interface & design is in a static enough state to warrant writing a manual. It's been that same way with ROF and its manual. Until then, it's not going to kill people to post a message here (and I'd never call the game's official website "obscure") or elsewhere asking what something means or looking at the many high-quality guides people have created so far.

senseispcc Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) Manuals that are all over the places are not manuals! A manual is a book where you can find your articles without the need to lose you time and effort to search for an answer! You think that a movie about something, some problem, something you must learn is the same than a manual or a book about the same subject?! You are wrong! This videos are only a help books and manual are really the Learning tool otherwise the universities should not be full of them the same for the army navy and most of all aviation civil or military? And it is a fundamental effort that the creators of any game should make in an effort to make a complete game not something to laugh about seeing someone one day shall publish one at low cost with what so ever in it. I find it criminal to sell some serious game to young people without an intelligent help so they can enjoy MORE this simulation. And they should be with the game not all over the place how are you all educated?! Poor future generations. Edited November 30, 2014 by senseispcc
