wastel Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 http://www.navalaction.com/ early access soon on open alpha mode cheers wastel 3
Finkeren Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 YES! That looks awesome!!! I've been waiting for something like this. Just hope the world is big and detailed enough.
unreasonable Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 What is purple and throbbing and swims in the sea? Cue clouds of childish giggles...
sallee Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Excellent. This looks like something I'll be well into. I remember Age of Sail (I think!). Thanks, wastel.
johncage Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 i showed that game to someone before. he said it looked like a 3rd person watered down arcade game. lol
76SQN-FatherTed Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Looks beautiful and interesting, but they're taking pre-orders without actually saying what it is! FPS on ships? Combat Sail Sim? RTS even? You seem to be able to earn/buy ships, so I'm guessing it's a sort of historical Elite/Star Citizen?
Bando Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Pre ordered right away. Thanks for the heads up. Flying in BOS and ROF, trading all kinds of stuff in Elite Dangerous, shooting my way through in the misery mods of Stalker and soon sailing the world in a good looking Dutch yacht (if it ain't Dutch, it ain't much). Good I'm retired......
sallee Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Just checking that there wasn't a practical joke about only "hornblowers" looking at this.... I wonder if we'll get a "Broke of the Shannon" scenario... he was an old boy of my school..bit of a hero.
Feathered_IV Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I just did the entire CS Forester list of Hornblower novels from start to finish a month or so ago. More than ready for this.

MarcoRossolini Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I'm so getting this! Thanks for showing this.
Mastermariner Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Nothing like Patrick O'Brian's novels to set you in the right mood for this game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aubrey%E2%80%93Maturin_series Will keep you happy for a long long time. I believe we all remember the film "Master and Commander" witch was loosely based on his work. I might buy the game but I'm curious as how to manoeuvre such a complex ship. What will the user interface look like? Perhaps it is more in Nelsons style -Never mind the manoeuvring, just go straight at them! Master

Master there's some gameplay for you, although it is at the earliest stage of early access, so it'd be like judging BOS when we only has the LaGG and no guns... 1
johncage Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 (edited) hmm...looks kind of like the sea battles in napoleon total war and subsequent total war games. i'm impressed by some of the details. there's fairly robust wind simulation for example. but underwhelmed as well. it all looks rather basic. and visually, napolen from 2010 actually looks better in some cases.
