Mission builder randomization

I know I haven't seen the mission builder yet. So I have no idea if there is any kind of "randomization" feature implemented but I think there isn't. Still I think it would be great feature. Let me see my premises.

Every mission becomes "boring" sooner or later. Targets are still on the same places and there is no variability in their heading. The same stands for the static targets like depots, supply points, etc. After few map rotation everyone knows where to fly, what he finds there, how to destroy it. The best solution here would be the mission generator. Since I expect this would be a long way trip for development (sorry for note but it would be gazillion times more reasonable than unlocks) I just want to ask if something on "half way" could be make. I'm thinking about something like this:

- let mission designers ability to randomize the ground units. Something like tank column A consist of five to ten tanks with zero to four AAA instead of exact number (aka five tanks with two AAA). Each map start the mission itself will generate the tank column A with numbers according to the defined range. So once you find ten tanks without any defense the other time you find six tanks with heavy AAA. But there will be at least some level of uncertainty. I think this could be the easiest part;

- randomize location of static targets. Let say the mission designer defines several static targets on map and how many of them shall/should be active. On each start the mission then activates targets according the definition;

- randomize ground units paths. This would be the most problematic feature. Still I think it could be achieved partially. Let designer define several starting locations (three should be enough) and path from each location to target. The mission then choose which start location would be active on each mission beginning.

As a bonus, I always miss the need of recon on the 99 % o maps. With functions mentioned above I think we could see the recon to certain extent at least. The variety of map increase by huge too. The main question here is how expensive such features would be. But still I think it would be more than benefiting feature from the long time aspect.

The RoF mission editor allows for randomization using the trigger timer with a variable 1-100% probability, I'd expect that the BoS mission editor works in the same way.

Wow that's great to hear. The things that could be possible in missions with that functionality is huge!

From the RoF editor I think the only way you can randomize groups ( create random groups ) is by definite scripting. Workflow there works with defined assets, unless you script a new asset from base.

You might be able to script a group generator for those tank columns. :) Or a generator even for independent AI triggers and eventually make the AI "auto-decide" which objectives to attack ?

Maybe...

But as I see in RoF the groups are built in by hand, so very beneficial to plan ahead and create a good library to re-use.
