Have you disabled it?  Does it improve your spotting and/or shooting?

Posted

No and no

If you didn't disable it, how do you know whether or not it would change spotting and shooting?

Boom! I love me some logic!

Yes I have disabled, it didn't seem to make much of a difference in spotting as it just reduces the spring of the airframe around you.

disabling cinematic view helped with spotting as it no longer blurs the screen when you look around.

Hope this helps! Salute!

Yes because its unrealistic I can't say my head shakes like then when I fly my yak-52

Yes.  I assume yes.

I didn't like the head shake.  Seemed unrealistic to me, and unnatural.  Same with the blur.  Far from reality, and almost bizarre!

gotta admit the Blur is dramatic when flying low and fast...

here an example of what Mister Hugault did with an Uhu and a peshka in hot pursuit.

very cinematic for movie making and machinima purposes i guess.

i didnt like it either, be that BoS or Minecraft. always seems too strong.

When i trun on headshake i dont have the feeling that the pilotes head shakes but the whole cockpit vibrates couse of a big running engine in front of it wich seems logical and realistic to me.

I can't disable it. Every time I see how they messed up this game I shake my head. Can't help it.

saying they messed it up is a bit much... just give it time and if they do it right it will become by far the best ww2 sim(couse this game has potential)... just take a look at CloD and the mess it was when it came out...

Funny.  But off topic.  Please, I asked a legitimate question hoping for useful info on the topic.

I gotta say I really enjoy the effect. I think it adds to the realism

Good question, I'm asking myself since the first day... :)

Yes I eventually disabled it, but didn't really notice any change. On a side note, there are some weird effects to my mind with the 1st person view position behaviour related to the vertical Gs at some point, which makes my view stay very weirdly blocked on top or low position until I do a specific (real) head movement in order to unblock my Track IR system... Do you know what I mean ? Pretty annoying, even if can admit the legitimity of something because of the Gs of course, but there seems very bizarre.

Head shake and motion blur are just cheap cinematic tricks for folks that think that the Hollywood portrayal of WW2 air combat is realistic.

If you like them, fine, but they are not realistic in the least.

Cinematic is awesome in videos but completely distracting in-game.

Head shake. Is that the slight cockpit vibration or is it another effect in not aware of?

The thing behind headshake isnt realism per se, but to compensate for the lack of physical feedback in a real aircraft (G forces, visuals, accustics, wind, temperature, ect.)

In reality natural ways to feel those forces are your own "butt-feeling" and your biological sense for orientation while we're restricted to visuals and accustics ingame.

Therefore vibrations, G forces, accelerations ect are modeled by camera movements, alias "head shake".

If you disable headshake you have no improved feedback on what the aircraft is doing, which is sth worth to consider.

Just like long range spotting physical feedback is one of the most distinctive issues a virtual pilot faces, so for me headshake stays enabled.

At OP for me headshake didnt influrence my spotting. Im usig it since day one and only briefly disabled it for testing. As long as you fly gentle and with a smooth running engine your view wont shake at all, only when stalling or flyimg with a cripled engine.

I disable it. I never have liked it and always felt it was unrealistic. In reality the muscles in the eyes, face, neck and shouders would reduce that headshake making it barely noticeable all without effort.
