needs to set up a yankee expert server.
ASAP

being from the EU, jobless and lonely, i really need someone to play with Past Greenwich midnight time.
But those Rednecks republicans and Democrats aren't online at all. The Lobby is empty., the only avtivity is on NAA - 4 players and euroo normal 3 players.

It baffles me that it is not possible to find an american BOS interested squadron, hand them the FMB so they can build a mission and the Server software so one of them can host.

or tell the NAA gamers to put up an Expert server?

because that means that Nobody between Greenland and Hawaii has a base to play on with a decent mission/mission set and decent pings.

and that is bad for business

cause the Peeps from that part of the world are Proper flightsimmers, all right.

This cannot be true...?!!
Woah.
This is scary...

Proper. Yes. Been patiently waiting for this for two months... I'm not giving up yet but close to it. Loyal dumptrucker.

The willingness of the general public to donate for it has already been demonstrated, which is extraordinary. You'd think north America would have a simming community somewhere that would be interested in establishing a flagship server like Syndicate or LD.  Barring that, a group of comrades.  Server rental costs are just part of online gaming.

I really don't know what to say, i sit here and stare in disbelief at the screen 1/33 all over the place.

There was a US server in the works but that project was shut down.

Guys,

Not shut down, I simply changed operators. But the person I am working with currently has been experimenting with new ways of building missions that maximize our tech and give the AI more of a role when human users are low in numbers and he's been looking for bugs and other technical issues. He's already found a few. My goal with a server based in the U.S. was to use it to experiment and learn about what logic has been changed from the ROF Deserver and ME so we can pass that information along when we release the Dserver and ME to everyone. The result would also mean some fun for those that want to play MP in the USA and to help us test the mission design approach.

The work being done can also benefit single player custom missions.

Caryatid has been working quietly on this for a few weeks now, but is close to being ready for another round of live testing. When that's ready I will let everyone know. Hopefully at the end of the week.

As has been mentioned by the team, our focus on initial launch was SP. Then we will then focus more on the MP element.

Excellent! I am still hoping that once the ME is released one of our many creative geniuses will be able to program some kind of GUI ALA MM or the UQMG on that puppy .. We shall surely see.. :salute:

BC,

Yes that is possible. I have found that the hardest thing to create is a GUI. Not being a programmer myself, to the untrained eye you would think that would be the easy part, but I swear it is the hardest thing to do. Finding someone who is good as making a GUI or at least willing to try is like finding a unicorn for me over the years.

In a parallel universe somewhere, there's a unicorn happily trotting about with a picture of you on its chest.

UI and UX is the most challenging area right now, I agree completely! The "problem" has been that for decades things like UI design was often done by the same person who programmed it. With all due respect to the amazing talents of programmers, most of them are somewhere between terrible and awful at designing interfaces. If the funding is there, you definitely need to hire/work with someone or people who prioritize UI/UX and then program to fit that. Xerox started it, Apple continued, and Microsoft and Google more recently are starting to figure it out :)

I sure hope you folks set something up within the next couple of days, not weeks or anything else.
I only now begin to understand what the Eagle's nest thing has left as a horrible, horrible gap.
Not so much on the Numbers side, its only one server with 32 slot that is missing, but much more as an opportunity of what BoS is capable of, as a propaganda tool, as a playground to draw interest from the Americas and for them to have a Go at BoS.

Hope you get a platform during the days to come... else the devs be accused of racism, and east-west tensions rising even more!
