Future independent expansions

Hi All. I know that this is pure speculation, but with the foundations almost now set with BoS,  how long it will be before companies like Plus Wave who made many expansions for IL-2 1946 [ The Fires Above and

Wings over Jungles ] and Ostfront from G 2 games offer their skills. And also all those clever pilots out there who gave us hundreds of missions scenarios for IL-2 and Pacific Fighters.

I suppose that there would be some legal clause and a time frame before the owners would release the necessary tools needed.

Cheers.   JM.

those are Mission sets and Skins.
they will appear as soon as the tools are available.

point about the pluswave skins- they were the same Bitmaps with different numbers. very lousy.

There was one free add-on to IL2 1946 that, if available for BOS, would give it the much desired expansion and dissolve many of the complaints about the sim's shortcomings.

It is Lowengrin's Dynamic Campaign Generator (DCG) for single and multiplayer missions and dynamic campaigns.  There were many parameters for variables covering aircraft, flights, AI level, weather, ground targets, AAA, victory objectives, etc.   It allowed the non-programmers to easily set up fairly complicated campaigns quickly and relatively easily.  Users also made preset campaigns one could just download and run.

One other free tool used with IL2 1946 was Mat Manager which generated historical plane markings (including numbering) and weathering on the existing skins on the client side only.  Very nice indeed.

as far as i can see, there are no markings on the planes, so mat manager is not... "needed".
altough codes and letters would be effin nice eh!

for DCG, see the Mission builder thread below - some info available on DCg-like stuff for ROF that might be handy in BoS.

No markings where?  IL2 or MM?

I am familiar with the ME in ROF and having a DCG such as Lowengrin's is a far cry from that.  Campaigns made with the ME are done by only a few due to the complexity of the programming.  A DCG allows anyone to create a campaign.

As far as skins, that is why a Mat Manager type program would be great to have in BOS.  You do not have to create individual skins for each aircraft to change things such as numbers or era of markings.  In use, MM showed its markings on all aircraft, AI or human, including your own skin.  And it was easy to universally make changes to all planes or plane types.

Mat manager replaced the decals/stickers in the original game , replacing files...

In the current game there are no stickers.

Therefor a Program that changes stickers is useless.

I understand you want markings, and i agree on mat manager - i loved the ability to swap colors of the Il-2's prop spinners for example.

But there are no markings in BoS.

...yet?!!
