Agilepig Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 In some airfield, There is very small area to changing direction. It is too hard to taxing. Especially, with Bf109 even cannot trying turn my direction. Engine turn on, trying change my direction and crash. I tired turning off my tail wheel break, using break of one side of main gear, but there is very few chance to success! There is no person like me? If there is some guys have solution of my problem, please teach me!
vonPilsner Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Good taxi info here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/10950-help-taking-taxi/
Yakdriver Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 please be carefull when saying "too hard" "too difficult" "impossible"i understand you, and i understand you try hard, but it is possible and not too hard.key is training :-) and breaking a few planes :-P
Pringliano Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 (edited) But still, while not difficult, and certainly not impossible at all, the techniques being used in BOS are not plausible - a fix is really needed IMO. Just observe videos of Fw190s and Bf109s, Hurricanes, etc..., like this one, where you can even see more left than right rudder being used during taxi! Persistent full right rudder, only reduced for turning left, is simply not plausible, and even less continuous use of brake! Less propwash effect / tail efficiency than there should be at this power settings and speeds, and probably way to much when airborne, accounting for the over sensitive rudder in the Fw190 and Bf109, as well as that irritating wobbling... Lensman Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The wobbling can be drastically reduced by a good trim of the stabiliser. If the aircraft flies level hands off then there is much less wobble.

The Bf-109 in BoS, turns very well and easy on ground, if you unlock the tailwheel. perhaps more than the plane would do in reality. This is a problem, due to it is easy to make a unwanted 360 turn easily, with the tailwheel unlocked. You must do; 1/ .unlock the tail wheel, ... 2/ carefully turn the plane with little hits of throttle , and rudder pedals and brakes smooth and carefully .., 3/ then lock the tailwheel to taxi straight. P.D:You can also push the stick forward, doing hits of throttle, to raise up the tailwheel from ground, turn the plane using rudder pedals only and propwash effect, ...but that's cheating, and that must be damaging the airplane in reality
Jaegermeister Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 You can also push the stick forward, doing hits of throttle, to raise up the tailwheel from ground, turn the plane using rudder pedals only and propwash effect, ...but that's cheating, and that must be damaging the airplane in reality It is not cheating and was actually done in reality, but it was against regulations. There is a good description in Norbert Hannig's book about how he wrecked a plane doing that because a new ground director waved his hands trying to get him to stop and did not know yet it was the signal to keep coming ahead. He should have crossed his fists over his head. His flight leader Walter Heck was famous for doing it all the time. Try just keeping the tailwheel locked all the time and run the engine up to 15 - 20% throttle and tap the right or left brake to turn.
