coconut Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Hi, Flight recording in this game is great. I especially like the ability to "rewind" the tape to an earlier point. It's a great tool to make impressive videos to upload to youtube. Here is a list of things that I think would make the flight record viewer even better, in no particular order. 1. Ability to split records. With records of 30 minutes or more, rewinding gets a bit slow near the end. It would be nice if I could produce a new record containing only the interesting part of the record I'm viewing. This could be done e.g. by pressing ctrl+r while in the viewer. 2. Fix the timestamp bugs on the "time bar". All times have the hours and minutes stuck at zero. Apparently, only the seconds are shown. Not a big issue, but if it's easy to fix, it's worth doing. 3. Fix the cockpit zoom bug. After I have used an exernal view and moved the camera away from the subject, if I go back to cockpit view, the zoom factor that is used seems to be the default one, instead of the zoom I used in the game. Rewinding the tape a little fixes that, so it's not a big deal. 4. Do not stop recording silently. During games, it's not uncommon that I notice that recording has stopped by itself. I don't know what's causing that. Is there a limit on the maximum file size or record duration? If the game must stop recording for a reason, I would like to have the option to hear an audio signal to attract my attention. Alternatively, a new record should start automatically. 5. I would like the possibility to auto-record my sorties, and have them disappear by themselves after a while if I don't rename them. War Thunder has that, I think it's nice. I don't always remember to record things in BOS, and when I do, it's often not worth keeping. Unfortunately, the record will remain on my disk unless I delete it explicitly. 6. Record buffer, "shadowplay-style record". The game should always be recording the last x minutes (should be configurable), and when I press ctrl+r, the record starts with what happened the last x minutes. The resulting record would contain x minutes before I started recording. This would help avoid missing that awesome kill that happened while you were not recording. 7. When cycling units, is there a way to "go back"? There can be a large number of units on the ground, and if accidentally cycle over the one you were looking for, you have to go a full round to get back to it. One could use arrow keys for that.

Only if we can disable it, I don't want my game recording all the time 'just in case'.
LoneStar Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Need to add that the "Camera: head-unlinked" command does not let use your mouse to control in-cockpit views of recorded tracks. Head tracker works in-cockpit but not the mouse. Mouse wheel zoom in and out also works in the cockpit. You can use the mouse to move around objects in external view. You can use the mouse to control in-cockpit views in SP and Campaigns but not recorded tracks. Having the ability to use the mouse in recorded in-cockpit views is beneficial when analyzing track recordings and for movie editing without having to use headphones and head tracker. This feature is available in Rise of Flight, Cliffs of Dover and IL-2 1946. Maybe it was overlooked during development.
ACG_Stu_ Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Great questions Coconut - most of which I would like answers to - But particularly, I am annoyed by the 500MB limit to records - a lot less than a sortie at my resolution. Please - Auto start another record, or allow larger file sizes to be selected. I fully agree with having some protection for inadvertently filling up you disk and crashing the system! Thanks Skewer 1
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 (edited) 3. you can press Left Ctrl F1 this takes you back to the pilots view from the way it was ingame (zoom and angle) Sorry i just saw this was a Necroed Thread from 4 Years Ago..@AKA_Skewer Lol what are you doing 4 year old thread.. also game resolution does not alter recording size just the number of objects and events that happen (cruising level at 4K for 5 mins is smaller than Furball for 5 mins) Resolution & graphics settings are not part of the recording you can playback any track recording in 720p @ 4K if you change game settings.
