Yogiflight Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Additional to Veteran's Velikie-Luki campaign, mentioned by Finkeren, you can also find Juri's Rshew campaign in the 'Missions' corner, where you can fly the Focke Wulf on the Moscow map in winter 1942/43.
Dr_Molem Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 (edited) However you cant win a 1v1 dogfight against a skilled oponent, your best bet in such a situation is to make one pass and then continue on until your enemy turns away or you come near friendlys. As long as the said 1v1 dogfight does not looks like "turning turning turning until stalling", i disagree. However i agree with the rest of your post. Edited June 21, 2017 by Dr_Molem
Herne Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 I've recently bought all the premium stuff. My short answer is yes it's worth it, but I want to try and articulate why.I suppose one could try to make an argument for saying that fighters are fighters, if you have essentially flown one in a video game then you have flown them all, but this is not the case. I simply love how individual these birds feel flying them around the sky, combat for me is a thrilling bonus. If you like 109's, inspite of the many hours you have flown in them, you will find the 190, the way it handles, from flight characteristics to the way it handles on the ground, pulling full back on the stick to lock the tail wheel for instance, a new challenge. Also if you have, or ever plan to buy into VR, why wouldn't you want to sit in the widest possible selection of beautiful cockpits. And the 190 is beautiful. Looks really quite comfortable.
Finkeren Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 The unique feel of each aircraft type in this sim is really something to cherish. A testament to the fact that nothing in this sim is based on a template. I'll say it again: For the altitudes usually flown at in this sim, the Fw 190 is the best and most versatile fighter and is arguably the most pleasant to fly as well. 2
Dutchvdm Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 This^ The BOK planeset is very nice and extremely diverse! Very much worth it!
Ribbon Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 The BOK planeset is very nice and extremely diverse! Very much worth it!Pretty much best expansion soo far, from planeset to map!And fact that it gets released piece by piece every month or two makes constant hype
Finkeren Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Planeset-wise it is pretty good. Would have preferred, that the Spitfire be replaced by a plane that was more prominent in that theater (Don't get me wrong, I'm as hyped as the next person about the Spit, but there were just 149 of them) A Lavochkin fighter, a late production LaGG-3 or fully-developed La-5F would have been great, or even better: An IL-4.

I think the devs sometimes have to make somewhat historical illogical choices to keep the sim logical, fun and balanced. The Bf-110 G2 we got did not really have a real part in the Kuban battle. Only a nightfighter squad was there. The older 110 is very popular and it's understandable that they wanted to add another version. Grt M
Finkeren Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 The Bf 110G2 might not fit Kuban per se, but very much fits the period and theater. The Spit on the other hand fits Kuban very well but is a very obscure and rare aircraft for an Eastern Front sim. I guess it's a balancing act to make sure, that too many BoK aircraft weren't just different versions of planes that were already in the sim. I don't mind the Spit at all, it'll be a lot of fun, but it still feels a bit weird to include it.
ShamrockOneFive Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 It fits the Collector Plane theme of being something reasonably historical or matched to the aircraft set without being overpowered. It's ok in my mind that we have something slightly obscure there. It's also a shrewd move to go with the Spitfire as it will help draw some players in who are fans of British aircraft and what better British plane to pick than THE iconic fighter of the war. A LaGG-3 Series 66 or La-5F would very much make sense but they are things we already have. On the German side we get the Hs129 which I'm very excited about. It may have been a small presence in this battle but it adds some diversity to the aircraft set which is wonderful. Kuban has done better than Moscow too for getting two Collector Planes that both fit the set historically and are offering something interesting to fly. 1
Badpitbandit Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Hello Martijnvdm, you are right. I`ll wait until BOK. dank u well tot ziens. Badpitbandit
Thad Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Salutations, The Fw190 is only worth it if you desire to shoot down a LOT of Russian craft.
Lusekofte Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 I never understood this kind of questions. It was the same about BOS when it was in alpha. I stated then t was worth it. Because it was WW 2 and CFS and we do not have too much of it. I cannot see why any such stuff should not be worth it, if you are interested in WW2 CFS. If you are you cannot afford missing out on anything
Jaws2002 Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 The FW-190 is the meanest slayer in the game. Everything else is pray.
