PostumusAgrippa Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Is it just me, or are the criteria for completing a campaign mission and getting full points a little arbitrary? For example, if, while attacking some bombers, I get my engine shot up, even if I am able to fly the plane back to the airfield or exit point, I still only get 1/2 points for the mission. Another example: if I fly a perfect mission, complete all the objectives, and then, while landing, put the prop into the dirt, I also get half points. Finally, there is also the issue of friendly fire. In expert mode, if I wrongly ID some friendly artillery as enemy and take it out, that is instant 0% points for that mission. I found that out the hard way, after completing the mission objectives and flying all the way back to the airfield. I get that you should fail the mission if you do something stupid like set your wingman on fire, or repeatedly strafe a friendly convoy, but the current system seems a little harsh, considering how long some of the mission can take on full mode, and the rate of XP gain.
Yakdriver Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 not at all.the goals are clearly stated: destroy this, or protect that.damage to the prop, means the engine needs to be changed for sure. hardly a minor thing, breaking a plane like that, and absolutely worth taking away half the points, because you should be able to land a plane in perfectly good condition? In real life this could harm your career or cost you your job or give you a job as a Trannsport pilot. friendly fire is not an issue - you could get court-martialled in real life. do you want your 100$ licence to be suspended for 6 months for friendly fire? Not arbitrariy, not harsh. very lenient and tolerant in fact.
Y-29.Silky Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Welcome to the wonderful world of single player.
jarg1 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I would like to get some points for damaging enemy aircraft. I finished a mission last night where I clobbers three PE2s, one of which was a smoking mess, and probably destined for the scrap yard, but ended up with very few points for my trouble.
Yakdriver Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 well if you get back safely, you get the XP... especially for landing! (+30) if you do not get back, you get the Gulag and no XP. Or a Birch coffin, and no XP. agree tho, you need to abort the msission, even landing does not count as a success (any landing you can walk away from... live to fight another day...)
