Cognac Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Hi guys. I'm curious: I know that the fuel load effect on the FM is replicated; the less fuel onboard, the more agile the plane. But what about ammo? Does the plane's performance improve as it expends rounds? The way I see it, and I'm not an engineer, (but I was a an AVN Tech in the RCAF),;if we take the average weight of a 20mm round as say, with casing, to be 1lbs, and we have a gun loaded with 500rounds, that's a significant load to fly around with. So have you guys done the modelling on this? I'm only curious. It would be some pretty daunting maths!
pilotpierre Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I notice after expending all my ammo I have to retrim the a/c so it must.
Mikey Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 if i remember correctly ive had one cannon knocked out while the other fired till it ran out of ammo and the plane was rolling to the side with the knocked out cannon with ammo still in it
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 16, 2014 1CGS Posted November 16, 2014 The weight of ammo is taken into account.
dkoor Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Nice. Can I ask one more question regarding on board ammo? Is there any chance that loaded ammo explodes when hit, on fire and such? There have been some real guncam vids where it shows, FW-190 me thinks, how wing exploded after it got hit by attacking aircraft rounds. Must have been that on board ammo went off. Same for fuel tanks (now we don't have any, but when we do...).
