Zettman Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 S! Hi folks, I have some problems to properly taxi my Bf 109 on the various airfields and want to ask for some tips. Every thing is fine as long as I turn to the left (due to engine), but right turns are sometimes impossible for me. On some airfield the left taxi way is blocked with trucks (to prevent players taking of on the snowplane) so I have to do a right turn to get to the runway, but even with full ruder and with or without right brake I can't make the turn and always end up in front of a tent or something that is blocking my way. Sometimes making a 270° turn to the left helps (instead of a 90° turn to the right), but it feels stupid. Is there a trick? Other planes like the He 111 (using only breaks during taxiing) are no problem for me. Even the Fw 190 feels easier to handle. Zettman
-TBC-AeroAce Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) I don't find it that hard to turn right. It is of course harder due to prop effects to turn right but with a modest ground and engine speed + a bit of braking I can do it. Sometimes it helps to come to a near stop use breaks and a quick burst of 100% throttle but remember at 100% its the Hardest condition to turn right. Also others say operating the prop pitch manually can help but I have never found this necessary Edited November 14, 2014 by AeroAce
Y-29.Silky Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) Hey ZettmanIt sounds like you're referring to the G-2 series. I found the G-2 impossible to turn right when taxiing, until someone briliiant guy reminded me to unlock the tail wheel, then the right brake should turn it easily. Still feels a little stiff, but it makes it possible.. Also, it makes it easier to put the prop pitch to manual when taxiing. Edited November 14, 2014 by Silky
