6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Now the DB605A was limited to the 1310 hp at 1.3 and 2600 rpm. How much power do I get when overriding it to 1.3 and 2800? it does 560kph when I do it 545 without, so it definetly does something, but how much do I win in HP?
bivalov Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 germans used "ps", not "hp" or "bhp", if i not mistaken, so power in "hp" must be a bit lower, or around 1290 hp. and if you got extra 15 kmp, at least it looks like around extra 100 hp.
SR-F_Winger Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Wont the engine just break after a while doing so?

As a German I still use PS, anyways, the difference between hp and PS is marginal. (factor 1.013) so I tend to use them interchangeably (which I know I shouldn't). Is there any reliable data about this?

Is there any reliable data about this? ok, i thought that you dont know. and i dont have concrete knowledge, but i heard about something like this, and just know some examples - typical increase of speed with extra 150 hp, difference in power between DB 601 E (1350 ps/1.3 ata/2500 rpm) and DB 605 A (1310/1.3/2600).......... and, for example, difference between 2600 and 2400 rpm for M-105PF = 110 hp, difference between 2600 (optimal rpm settings for this engine under 4000 meters) and 2500 or 2700 = 50 hp = around 5-6 kph.
=LD=Hethwill Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Your best bet would be to buy the compendium http://www.luftfahrt-archiv-hafner.de/daimler-benz.htm Quite amazing price compared with other archive documentation. Only stuff I could find, even under the straw mattresses of a normal web search were excerpts. A fellow just posted them all in some other forum here
JtD Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I can't help you with exact figures, but since boost is good for a near linear power increase and power at 1.42/2800 was 1475 compared to 1310 at 1.30/2600, you'd be looking at an about 50 hp power gain from rpm alone. At high altitude (7+ km, where 2600 rpm cannot provide maximum boost), the extra rpm do increase boost (up to 1.30), and figures from the manuals show 75-100 hp extra. It is odd to say the least that about 50 hp increase speed by 15 km/h. It should be more in the range of 5 km/h.
