Combine RoF and Il-2 BoS Forum?

The old RoF Forum feels a bit dead, small and aged. Especially the Interface feels old and unfriendly, especially when compared to this one.

So why not combine the two, increase the audience for RoF and many other good things. I love both equally, and don't really see them as different games.

Not going to happen - although I do think RoF needs to be discovered by at least some of the "I only like WWII" crowd.

I haven't touched it in months - might be time to give it some love soon.

I don't think that would be a good idea.. I think it would be better to have direct links to each forum on the others' forum.. A direct link here on the RoF board and a direct link to RoF here.

Two distinct games but with overlapping issues from their shared engine.

 

Two distinct groups of fans with some overlap.

 

Two distinct plane sets using some of the same FM ideas.

 

Two distinct historical periods with no overlap at all.

 

Very hard to see how a merger could add clarity to any area where there is overlap, easy to see how even more red-herrings would disrupt discussion.

They already have a section for "Other 1C Games".. As I don't play RoF, it'd get a little annoying to see those posts mixed in here.

Had to think twice, but I ended up with 'bad idea'. I just don't see a way where RoF won't get burried.

 

And then there's the confusion about some on the dev team having worked on both sims and others who have not.

The two could share one website with no issues.  The forums per product would be separated.  Many companies do this.  People new to BOS would see the relationship to ROF and vice versa.  If nothing else there should be reciprocal links to each other web sites.

 

The other thing that could be incorporated is to bring BOS into the ROF Online Server website.  http://online.riseofflight.net/en/

It feels "dead" because of RoF is like 5 or more years out?There is not much changes done lately,nothing to look forward,to discuss about.It had its own hot times back then during beta stage and early release.All interesting topics were discussed from top to bottom.

So it is quite natural status.Personaly I have been there last time maybe 2 years ago? I rather fly the planes with stick.Certain group fly their game with keyboard on forums.

Got say that I love ROF and think the devs should promote the sim here. It may be old but it has a great feeling of depth about it especially with the addition of a few mods from the community.

The main problem with putting BoS next to RoF in peoples' minds is that BoS comes out of the comparison so badly in many respects.  I am sure most people know where both games' forums are, they will find them if they want them.

Simply put, NO. Two different products. The only reason RoF forums are quite is that some pilots are involved in other things. BoS? Maybe.

No. Two products, two different conflicts, two different communities with very different atmospheres. I don't want to know what merged community might look like.
