indiaciki Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) it's awful... I was wondering if accusim and SP2 changed the FM... ? I was telling the devs in BOS and ROF to do a descent civilain sim because the FM in fsx x-plane and probably prepar3D are ridiculous. Here's the market. The big buck. 777 has the best flight model as DCS and they're both heading towards combat only. I can't understand that at all. Edited November 10, 2014 by indiaciki
indiaciki Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 JUst installed accu-feel v2... think twice about fsx FM. It's awesome. A A2A cub is on par with the best ROF models. And I love ROF.
Pringliano Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Beware that the only possible miracle in FSX is really using an external flight dynamics model, and even accusim doesn't do it... Although by far A2A's and RealAIr add-ons are some of the best for that platform, they can't approach what you get in either CoD, BOS or DCS. I have actually came from the civil flightsim side, forced here because I was not happy with what I had there. Started with DCS p51d, then a few months ago with IL2 BOS, and at only 5 days I am a new CoD + Team Fusion user. Among these three I am actually finding CoD the most tempting in terms of FDM in many aspects, and really enjoying it. X-Plane 10 is a good sim too, but the developers have to really know how to explore all of it' possibilities. The new "moment" and "free force" datarefs introduced by Austin to allow for fine tuning, for instance of prop effects are great in the hands of developers who know what to do with them...
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I think it speaks volumes that X-Plane drives some simulators that are approved training devices where FSX does not. 1
indiaciki Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) I think it speaks volumes that X-Plane drives some simulators that are approved training devices where FSX does not. It's probably better but it's a shame that really none of them are as good as they could be. The only thing they simulate is IFR... I thought Lockheed Martin would turn Prepar3D into a real sim...doesn't look like that... x-plane 10 Global? Any Good? Edited November 10, 2014 by indiaciki
Chuck_Owl Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) I didn't really enjoy X-Plane 10 to be honest... A2A's Spitfire, on the other hand, is a real blast to fly. Edited November 11, 2014 by 71st_AH_Chuck
indiaciki Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) The spit is well done. Just installed x plane 10... just another hm.. sim. Accu feel and that head shake add-on for fsx in the cub are great. Edited November 11, 2014 by indiaciki
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 The comms part of X-Plane is much worse - the assumption is that if you are talking to ATC it is a related to your IFR clearance. There is some strangeness about the logic that will place tress on taxiways or ramps, or put a windsock right next to a runway. In terms of flying and systems it does well, but configuring the controls is a hassle. Both it and FSX are great for practicing radio navigation, IFR flight or preflying your cross-country routes and seeing the landmarks and things like that that don't involve the actual control of the airplane. With control pressures absent and the relatively small throws we have with our controls it is hard to simulate the actual feel and feedback of flying. Even stuff like what you did in your video, dropping the flaps all at once... I don't think that is the sort of thing people are likely to do in a 172. Usually you put in 10 degrees of flaps and roll the trim forward about 270 degrees of the trim wheel (you grab it near the bottom, move the wheel up to about where you have to let go and do it again) to take care of the ballooning, then add more flaps a little later as needed. I was curious how the sim reacted if you landed flat and fast. In a 172, that is a recipe for the nosewheel hitting first, increasing the angle of attack and throwing you up into the air and starting a wild ride unless the pilot starts a go around or adds a little power to make the second or third or fourth or fifth of Ernest Gann's "series of angry collisions with the Earth" softer.
indiaciki Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 That video was an experiment to test the a2a 172 because it was pretty hyped. When my father saw the roll and expecially the full flaps dead engine thing he really gave me hell. He's a good pilot. His comments were. That spin was lucky.the loop was wrong and stupid. I reduced throttle before i was inverted and the dead stick full flaps i suicidal. I know I was flying like an idiot. I asked him if you could do it like this. His answer was yes. If you're a very good pilot or a very stupid one. So, you're right
Feathered_IV Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 DCS spitfire is apparently scheduled for release in three or four weeks....
Chuck_Owl Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 DCS spitfire is apparently scheduled for release in three or four weeks.... Don't you mean the 109? The Spitfire will not be before another couple of months as far as I know.
=LD=Hethwill Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) IIRC 1st and 2nd quarters of 2015 is the Spit and the Jug ( planned, not confirmed ). Edited November 11, 2014 by =LD=Hethwill_Khan
Reflected Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 If you like FSX, I can recommend the accu-sim Spitfire. It's as good as FSX can get. Beautifully modelled systems, the FM is fine tuned to the tiniest detail. Every flight has effect on the plane and if you don't treat her nicely something might go wrong the next time you take off (unless you repair it of course) Then again, it's still FSX, not in the same ballpark as tooday's sims. 1
Feathered_IV Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I haven't been following dcs very closely. I got the December date from a sticky thread over in their forums. Perhaps it's an older schedule.
