Those panels are interesting, Sokol1... But just between us, I was just a dentist, OK? I do admire Engineers, especially the lady ones with the Vodka. But do I have to make the flight profiles myself? I can plot the button commands but I sure would like some axis patterns to follow. I appreciate your input as the mamba is a big step up in design and construction. I would like one ...I welcome your advice..thanks

Lol Sokol1.

I love the RD test on the product. Not showing my wife this. She might be able to break it. Never know

That Mamba stick looks amazing but then so did the Fat King Cobra MkII

I've go to say VKB product lines design is really sexy, if they were able to get these things easily available to the rest of the world they'd be millioniares by christmas.

I'm starting to feel it's neccessary for me to buy the BM lite, even though I already have a TMWH and a modded G940, I think I might have a problem.

My argument pro BM is that flying a Su25 with the WH is totally immersion killing

LOL. I know. For same reason I dont like use "F-16" (Tm, CH) and "F-15" (Suncom) grips that I have to play WWII sim (just "fly" in these). Think i build something like:

More un-ergonomic impossible.

Ohhh nooo. That's pretty much exactly what i need, because i really don't like the Warthogs gimbal.

I guess i can't get around buying one of those then. would be great if they would only sell the base.

Posted

I just got the info that they plan to sell the base alone in 1-2 months.

Now its getting interesting - if it takes the Warthog, it should take my Cougar...

Sure! Warthog, Cougar and F-22 PRO use the same multiplexer chip inside (to use F22 PRO in Warthog base is need change some HAT connections).

Prototype in VKB forum: http://www.vkb-pro.ru/forum/download/file.php?id=899&t=1

Another interesting WiP, a button box kit to utilize Njoy32 PRO inputs.

It looks like you have to remove the nut that is used to connect the Warthog grip to the Warthog base. Hopefully there is an easy way to do it without "modding" the grip too much.

Hm,that seems not to be too difficult to do. Thanks Sokol1

Now if only they'd manufacture that stick with the Warthog-style stick as standard....

but that will be wrong! TM would be very unhappy and I do think the standard BM sticks looks great.

Again the F-16 look? We have basically this for more than a decade (F-16 FLCS, F-22 PRO, F16 Fighterstick, Cougar, Warthog...).

Its a shame they could not have come up with something that was more plug and play with the TM grips

Umm, I never said to make it a direct copy of what TM has made.

Yes, again the F-16 look. If I bought the Black Mamba right now, I'd be giving up a lot of buttons on my joystick. That's part of why that design is so popular - the ability to map a lot of commands to it. With the Black Mamba that's not so much the case.

I wish   some company would make a high  level  throttle, as the HOTAS ones, bur  working as a separated stick. The CH ones  are very hard to find here and damm they look ugly :P

I AM waiting for #61 Mamba..rather nervous as I want to use my x52 PRO throttle...I like the wheels and slide. I have ROF profile on Saitek software which I choose from Saitek screen and very happy with that. I use the in game CoD profile maker for controls. I wanted to use the Saitek profile maker with 3 modes but was unsure if CoD would allow that choice from the "outside". I may ask you fellows for some setup advice to get a new profile made, with modes, and two different manufacturers! Learning curve time. Anxious to try the Russian design.

Germanicus

You can use multi-profiles in CLoD like another sim.

Profiles only means "press a joystick button to send a key press" - for games dont matter if button 4 are

send G, F or V, or combos, only if these keys are setting in his control table to do something, so set as desire. ;)

Obvious if you select profile 1 and press button 4 expecting that flaps drop but this has set in profile 2, something goes wrong.

Sometimes this things (profiles) more hinder than help.

Received my Mamba this morning. Was only able to do a 10min test before work.

Thoughts on the stick.

1. Accuracy is very high.

2. Lots of buttons to play with. Going to be better in BOS than ROF.

3. Base could be heavier - but you can fix that.

4. Stick is to plastick for me. :cray:

Will report back later

PS. Sokol1, is there a manual for this stick. You seem to know and have everything! Thanx

What kind of plastic? I don't mind the stuff they use on CH sticks because that stuff is really tough and hard wearing rather than the shiny weak plastic that flexes and creaks when you grip the stick that other cheaper sticks use. There is another user on the ATAG forum (assuming it's not you) who has mentioned the plastic feel:

Now i have it...

N: the price Euro 269,- ( without shipping ) for that i think is very toooo much !!!

everythink in fine stable aluminium... thatz not true !!! the stick is plastic a la card !!!

the buttons is the cheapest of the cheap... its also plastic... if i think back to my old saitek x52 hmmm... thatz quality...

the configuration software is aviable only in russian language (i try to translate but omg. )

also no users manual and you dont have a plan how to use the config-tool... very crazy thing that

P: the mechanics are really very strong and also the springs and centerpoint is very good !!!

fazit :

my (now) 2 years old saitek x65f i buyed from a good friend for !!! Euro 150,- !!! new price if i remember good i think was something at Euro 300,-

but WITH Throttle and extra panel with switches AND absolutly 100% aluminium AND the Config-Tool what is very easy to use is

the much more better thing.

just kick out Euro 292,- ( with shipping ) of the window....

Uff, sounds a bit disappointing.

Can someone open it up and show the gimbal.

Also is it possible to unscrew the big base plate (i'm assuming it is, but would be good to have that confirmed).

On a side note, I tried Warthog and I must say the stick resistance is too stiff for sim stick...also, it isnt smooth (I can feel when Im over the "zero point")...its made for big hand (mine is average), so the to reach the top "fire" button you must raise your hand from the headrest....the metal feel in hand is nice but nothing close to what I "dreamed of"....also, buttons are stiff and noisy also (when pressing them, I was expecting something much better than on plastic sticks)...this was mentioned on forums...

The main spring of the Warthog is indeed a bit too strong, but it's perfect when you use a stick extension.

The trigger is also a bit noisy on my stick, but otherwise the buttons are great on mine.

Only big problem the Warthog has imho, is the gimbal. It's plastic and the stick can twist a few degrees and it can get worse after a lot of use. And the whole ball-shaped construction with grease etc. is prone to stickyness (even though the stick extention takes care of most of that aswell).

That's why i'm curious if the stick can be combined with the Mambas base. But then the springs of the Mamba might be too weak for stick extensions.

Posted (edited)

yes, we heard it will be compatible with warthog...but...to get that...

you need to buy Warthog HOTAS = 430 $ plus shipping for EU....whatever it is..

then you need to buy Mamba (cheapest is Mamba light = around 270 $ plus  26 $ shipping  for EU) to get Mamba's base...

So even without shipping the total is around 700 $....with shipping its closer to 800 $.....hell, for that I can buy used rig which will run ROF/BOS on max in full hd....or new rig which will run those games smoothly with just a few small changes in video settings...

phew!

Well, i did get the info that they plan to offer just the base without the stick. So it might get a bit cheaper. But still, it's a bit steep overall.

I might try DIY to fix the gimbal instead.

Vorlander,

I ask in Shokhoi forum and UIV (VKB) inform that they are re-writing the manual and a English version coming soon.

Meanwhile, in vkb-pro.ru are a Russian version (King Kobra) in PDF, that you can convert to Word or HTML and translate with Google...

Hola SOKOL..My Mamba is plugged in. I have it recognized under devices, gaming. No directions came with it. I would like a button map but have several from the internet so not a great problem. I will wait for the translation. I checked my desktop and C drive including Programs common and Programs x86 common looking in case Mamba information available and I missed it. It feels great..nice easy movement. I don't use CEM.. I am at that age when I must remember if I ate breakfast. I appreciate your advice which is for all of us. Many Thanks
