Idaho Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I'm about to put in a new videocard and thought I'd run a benchmark before/after. Any suggestions?
Gambit21 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Cinebench is what I use. I'm a 3D artist so it's aprops for me. It's still a good open GL benchmark program for anyone though.
1./ZG1_ElHadji Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I have always used 3dmark for gaming PC benchmarking. The free version does the job well enough. http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks/3dmark-vantage
Sokol1 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Flight simulators, if they run with steady 60 FPS or above the system are fine.

It is not a good choice, as you have mentioned, it is a rendering tool. You should choose some graphically demanding PC game like Crysis 3 and compare your results with benchmarks.

Potenz Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 try any of this ones, valley and heaven are the heaviest ones http://unigine.com/
John_Banks Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) Shall i deactivate vsync while benching or doesn't it matter at all? I have also disabled hyperthreading. Does the benchmark benefit from that? Edited November 10, 2014 by John_Banks
Potenz Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 that's debatable, with vsync you will get the results that you will actually see when gamming, and without it's the raw performance numbers your card will get, run both with and without it
Mastermariner Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I use MSI afterburner, good or bad I don't know since its all that I use. It can, among many other things, display data of the hardware on the screen as you play the game. Also great for over clocking. Master
-TBC-AeroAce Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) The simple answer is that there are many and they each test or forget or become accustom to certain things. I find the Heaven benchmark to be quite honest/reliable(to base desisions on) and easy to use. But im sure there are reasons not to use it. Do some research about them on youtube and elsewhere Prime95 is also a good one to run in respect to this game as it is CPU intensive. Just check for errors or overheating and throttling. PS I have run this on a low and high card for me on both balanced gives the best performance spread over MP and SP Edited November 12, 2014 by AeroAce
John_Banks Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I tested with and without vsync. There is quite a difference of cause as expected. But how can i compare my score with that from others? Is there a database or testresult page of some sort?
Ala13_Kike Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 For GPU Benchmarks: Unigine Heaven Unigine Valley +1 But the best test it's to play without fraps or similar. Test for me only are valid to check your PC before/after or one hardware change
