Campaign design

I like the campaig as it is, but I think it may be improved easily.

I liked very much the capaign in IL2 1946.

First of all, I think each plane should have its own capaign for each player. It is pretty inmersive to fell as if you were part of a Stafell and that you have to fly from airfield to airfield with your comrades... You begin as a wingman and you can gain slowly more competences and responsabilities. It make you feel as if you really were in the campaign.

And of course, you do not choose your mission (escort, ground attack...) you do what is needed at the moment

It is just a proposal.

Anyway, I love this game!! Great work, keep working on games like this!!!

Agree whole heartedly.

Yes. Hopefully we get that, similar to RoF career or as packs as in grandad 46.

For the moment being imagination takes the place of coding.

Taking the RoF Beta career as an example, there are various aspects that simply do not work in BoS due to the short time frame of just a few month.

It is not very realistic to promote through five ranks in three months, or to collect EK2 to Knights Cross with oak leafs, swords and diamonds. Neither is there a lot of evolution in plane technology. So a realistic campaign would play not much different than what we have now, if you just stick to the same plane and airfield. Okay, the game would keep track of the tally for your current v-life, and also for wingmen that would eventually change over time.

There were hints that they might open the door for a RoF PWCG style solution in the future, so there is some hope if that's what you are looking for.

Now if we talk about campaigns in the RoF sense, that would be the totally linear forced-to-complete-every-mission more or less story-telling style like "Du doch nicht!" or "St. Mihiel", something like that should always be possible to do, while nice as one-time experience, "replayability" is rather limited.

campaign mode feels like a quick mission generator and gets repetitive since the parameters are nearly always the same.

and seems to be no difference between the various campaign stages except mission area and scenery

the biggest problem of BoS at the moment ist the XP thing.

I have the real pilot license and love WW2 Simulator, even bought every game of IL-2 but there's at the moment no fun, playing the campaign...

You fly over 15 minutes to the fucking action area to get shot down by three He-111 and two G-2's while bursting about 3 times while getting out of ammo after three bursts... And the best thing... if you land that thing safely on the ground with a damaged plane you didn't even get points...

I've tried this 3 times till I lose the tension to play this game ...

And even when you are successful you need to do this for 10 planes and about, don't really know, hunderets of hours to get every fucking skin and weapon mod.

that sucks hard and is frustrating me!

I really love this sim but this should be fixed quickly!

Of course you can have fun playing the campaign, just hop on the ship "Imagination" ™
