Y-29.Silky Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 http://www.39-45war.com/stuka.htmlI was fascinated by this read. I had doubts at first due to the source and the fact that the pilots names aren't even addressed, but the level of detail explained, all the little details convinces me otherwise. I did email him asking for some more information (the scanned documents, etc, etc), so hopefully he'll get back to me. 3
AA_Engadin Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Thanks for sharing the link, Silky. Looks like a nice read. AA_Engadin
Y-29.Silky Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 It's a long one, but the information is outstanding Especially the fact that they started their dive from 4000m, and sometimes dropped them at 500, I would have never known!
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 This one is also very interesting: http://www.allworldwars.com/Conversations-with-a-Stuka-Pilot-Paul-Werner-Hozzel.html regards
Lusekofte Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Very interesting read, and it shows that the gun effectiveness might not be over done like I initial thought. I have on some occations manage to damage enemy attacker with forward gun and back gunner in such degree that he had to ditch. I start to really believe this game is pretty accurate in terms of DM and effectiveness 2
1./ZG1_ElHadji Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Interesting reads! I just finished reading this one: http://www.ospreypublishing.com/store/Junkers-Ju-87-Stukageschwader-of-the-Russian-Front_9781846033087
Blooddawn1942 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Very interesting read!! Thanks for sharing with us.
lemonpop67 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Another good read for virtual Stuka pilots! Hitler's Stuka Squadrons: The JU 87 at War 1936-1945 by John Ward
jeanba Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Thank you for sharing I note that the Stuka were flying at 1000 - 2000 m lowest and ususally 4000 m, and in the campaign, for intercept mission, we meet them at 500 m. I hope 777 will correct this to add more flavour to the campaign They also seem to have operated in staffel formation, much more than the 4 stuka we usually see
