Idaho Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 As opposed to just buying here. I'm wondering if there is any benefit to that..... ? All comments welcome.
vonPilsner Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I did, but only because I already have 90% of the games I own on Steam. The downloading of updates while steam is running is the only benefit.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 and you can play from any computer from any where in the world. once you down load steam and input your account.
Nonolem Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 and you can play from any computer from any where in the world. once you down load steam and input your account. It's the same with the other version. After registration, the non-steam game identifies you with your email and password, that's all. You can play wherever you want.
Jaeger55 Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Is there any real reason not to buy from steam? I have a handful of games from them and never had a problem.
Lensman Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 and you can play from any computer from any where in the world. once you down load steam and input your account. Once you've unpacked your joystick, rudder pedals, Track-IR and throttle from your suitcase ... ;-)
Yakdriver Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 technically steam has no benefits concerning the program itself.and they take a chunk of the benefit, so nope... not on steam.
Sokol1 Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 In the same way that a STEAM version can be installed in other computer (after install STEAM in this) the site version can be installed, just logo in your account, download the laucher and install. The only real advantage listed is STEAM run games updates in background.
J2_Trupobaw Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) Steam overlay helps you connect with your friends or watch requiem's tutorials without alt-tabbing from the game. Steam BoS drops steam cards, which can be "sold" to other players; money you "sell" them for can be deducted from price of next title you buy on steam. Owning game on steam lets you publish screenshots, write reviews and guides for that game on steam, but that's a bit redundant. On cons side, if the game has any errors (ffb pulsing bug, CTDs, they will be more prominent if you run game from steam instead of .exe version. Yakdriver Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 i am old fashioned: hardware+windows+drivers+game. that is enough layers to get the system running. money to the game maker. i am not paying for (as above) a layer i do not technically need if i can avoid it. social networking...i don't feel comfortable with that any more, and haven't for years.
StickMan Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I bought it on Steam. The best benefit that I can see is that the game auto updates. For awhile the updates were coming so fast it was really good to have that option.
