Heliopause Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Last month parts of Lancaster LM508 where dug up near the town of Werkendam, Holland. The aircraft crashed in the night of 21-22 june 1944 whilst on the return flight. It was believed that all crew got out at the time, one of them MIA (Sgt. Keogh - tailgunner). Last weekend I visited the site during a special day when it was allowed to view the many parts found. (Also some info here https://www.facebook.com/lancasterwdam ) A large crowd came to visit during the day 1

Heliopause Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 Excellent article(s) Milo! F/S Duff and S Keogh didn't survive the battle. The pilot P/O Hingley hit a bridge while descending and broke his back! S Gascoigne made it to Antwerp before being caught. He was the last survivor of this crew (past away February this year).
