Last month parts of Lancaster LM508 where dug up near the town of Werkendam, Holland. The aircraft crashed in the night of 21-22 june 1944 whilst on the return flight.

It was believed that all crew got out at the time, one of them MIA (Sgt. Keogh - tailgunner).

Last weekend I visited the site during a special day when it was allowed to view the many parts found.

(Also some info here https://www.facebook.com/lancasterwdam )

A large crowd came to visit during the day

Excellent article(s) Milo!

F/S Duff and S Keogh didn't survive the battle. The pilot P/O Hingley hit a bridge while descending and broke his back!

S Gascoigne made it to Antwerp before being caught. He was the last survivor of this crew (past away February this year).
