Although 99.5% of that beach Spit had to be made from scratch to be airworthy.  Likely only a few steel parts where in good enough shape to use.

Salt water dissolves aluminum fast, sacrifised for the steel parts.  Its opposite if in fresh water.

I need a job in "media".  Every other presenter I see seems to get a chance to sit in a WW2 plane - that bloke even got to fly for a bit!  I bet it's wasted on them....mutter mutter...
