Pringliano Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Probably because my focus is different from the big majority of those who play il2 bos, I really like to fly the missions in the Campaign. Do it once or twice a week, have just reached level 3, and am still at the first one. I have been flying the Campaign missions in SHORT duration, NORMAL mode. Yesterday I flew for the 2nd time an escort mission, protecting a flight of Pe-2s in my LaGG... Well, it was a great sensation / experience, and I found the AI really challenging. I wonder how many more XPs I get when flying a FULL mission ( believe I'll have to go from parking to parking? ), in EXPERT mode? Is there a table or any other sort of information on this Score system? Really enjoying and learning with Campaign mode ! 3
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 S! No need to taxi to parking. Just clear the runway and you are good to go. 30pts for take off and landing each. So 60pts more in Expert + "difficulty" bonus. Could get anything from 140 to over 300pts in Expert.
Tompa_73 Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I wonder how many more XPs I get when flying a FULL mission ( believe I'll have to go from parking to parking? ), in EXPERT mode? No you start from runway and dont need to finish at the runway in expert mode and full duration(I wish this would change), although I do just for the challenge of landing, which it is for me still. I also like to fly the campaign, choosing ground attack or support, turning of all labels and text, it is great fun and immersive enough for me. I dont know how much more XP you get but its double I believe?
Finkeren Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Having long since completed the campaign I continue to fly missions occasionally to get the last unlocks. At pilot level 8 I gotta say, that resistance has become quite a bit more of a challenge. I often fly very lopsided missions and especially intercept has become quite dangerous, because the escort often outnumbers you significantly and is very agressive. I find the La-5 has become my favourite interceptor in the campaign, because it allows me to make one or 2 quick passes on the bombers (with 2xShVAK that usually means at least 1 kill and several others crippled) then quickly dive for the deck and outrun any pursuers.
sturmkraehe Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I do it mainly for unlocking as I am more for MP and I miss the immersion of the dynamic campaign of old IL2 which had been gorgeous or the career mode of RoF. I for my part currently use the La5 to attack airfields that provide some "easy" possibility to achieve the mission objective and leaving enough ammo for one or two fighters to add to my credits. Interception I've abandoned with my vvs planes because of sniper gunners.
unreasonable Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 As a SP person I find the campaign missions to be not too bad, with potential for improvement. Particularly needs a patrol type area mission where you do not know what you are going to get. I am playing them all full mission with a clean screen and O map without markers and in high cloud missions navigation is a real problem. Since I do not care about unlocks I am more concerned about replayability. Obviously you can start when you want with whatever plane you want (hurrah), but he inability to reset the player level means that any future replay with self-imposed RP elements (playing DiD for a particular unit etc) will always start at the highest difficulty level. Since I am by no means an ace fighter this does limit my options. 1
VRPilot Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I play the campaign mostly an saturday and sunday morning when there is not much action on the MP servers r when I get home from a busy day at the office and I need some time to relax. I enjoy it very much, at the moment I do all the last skins for all fighters, maybe the campaign gives me a good entry point for trying those bombers and stukas. I never flown them before...
senseispcc Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Go on at your rhythm and enjoy it like a fine wine or a beautiful lady. Have a nice game.
dingdingchavez Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Is it just me or is the sound way too loud during the cutscenes, with no apparent way to turn it down?
vonPilsner Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I wonder how many more XPs I get when flying a FULL mission ( believe I'll have to go from parking to parking? ), in EXPERT mode? Is there a table or any other sort of information on this Score system? Mission Complete: 60 Takeoff: 30 Landing:30 Expert Mode: x2 You get double XP for playing on Expert difficulty. I think it's also worth it to land if your plane is in good enough shape at the end of a mission.
Eskimo Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I finished the campaign until the "Battle is over..." movie. When I flew one more mission yesterday, the points for the mission were shown at the end but were not added to the "experience bar"... Isnt it possible to increase your experience after finishing the campaign? I wanted to start the campaign again but as a fighter pilot (I flew all the missions in the completed campaign in the Il-2...) but it doesnt seem to work. After one mission in the Yak-1, the second part of the campaign was offered.
vonPilsner Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I wanted to start the campaign again but as a fighter pilot (I flew all the missions in the completed campaign in the Il-2...) but it doesnt seem to work. After one mission in the Yak-1, the second part of the campaign was offered. This seems to be the default behavior, the campaign does not reset so I just fly the 1st chapter for a few missions then move on to the 2nd chapter when I figure enough missions have passed.
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 S! Once you pass the whole campaing it will offer you the next chapter right away, if in a new plane. Looked kinda funny
unreasonable Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 The problem is that the campaign does not track time, it only tracks xp. If you want to have a new campaign with any kind of realistic timeframe you have to keep a separate log of the date and how many missions per day you want to fly, etc. (See my DiD thread). This is a bore since the game should be doing this kind of elementary book-keeping for you, but once you have it set up it does not take too long.
Eskimo Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 And what about the experience points. Is it intended, that no more points will be added and therefore your pilot level will be staying at the level you finished the campaign?
heinkill Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Yes a future update needs a 'start new campaign' button. h
