Watched it nonstop yesterday, yea it's a quite good movie. Of course following the modern standards so you betetr don't expect any historical tiedness and realistic airfights (in this movie biplanes roll like 190s and combat manouvres are totally overdone and at 3 times the speed).

The love story is meh for sure (modern standarts  ). The actors were well chosen and most of them well dressed to fit their role, but Til Schweiger as Werner Voss? :o: And the fat british pilot in the beginning was quite funny

One of the best aviatik movies I have ever seen: Der rote Baron (2008)

Excellent dogfightscenes and good actors! The only thing that I don't like is the embedded lovestory!

I have Red Barron on DVD, I love the movie but I agree with you about the love story aspect.

Although The Nurse in the movie (sorry I cant remember the name) was rumoured to be The Barron's lover, but no evidence has been found to prove this in any literature.

Still I like the movie for what it is, Flyboys is the same it is based on a true story of the Lafayette  but most of the names were changed.

Still as a movie it was entertaining. :)

Agreed, way too fast and manoeuvrable.

For now, I have to go with Battle of Britain.

I've heard Blue Max is great but I have not yet seen it, since it's impossible to find that movie in my country in DVD form.

Blue Max, George Peppards greatest movie role IMO.

The movie itself is a bit mid 60s/70s like BOB but good nonetheless.

Dark Blue World would have been more acceptable if its approximation of a flat home counties English airfield didn't look exactly like a mountainous eastern European airfield ... etc.

Not seen Dark blue world , but heard about it, sounds good, will definitely look out for it.

Air Force (1943) is a pretty good B17 movie though Twelve o' clock high is probably the best movie of them all.

yes the Buchon's never looked right.

Although they are closer to an E4 maybe.

Eads Me109 g ish variant shows what you can do with a good buchon conversion.

Its a real mish mash of parts but looks way closer to a real later 109 model.

Yep agree on the Buchons. Once you see them in the movie you instantly think "That's why the luftwaffe ost this aerial battle"

Fun aside I still have to watch this movie entirely. The bits I've seen looked promising. :)

Good historical war aviation movies are hard to come by. The closest to a really good one was propably 'Memphis Belle' or 'Dark Blue World'.

But when it comes to aviation in general, I have to mention Hayao Miyasakis two masterpieces 'Porco Rosso' and 'The Wind Rises'

Those are some of, if not the, best movies I've seen about aviation.

My favorite old movies: The Batttle of Britain, the Blue Max end Memphiles Belle (best)

My favorite recent movie: The Red Baron end a surprise: The Eternal Zero, music is bad, the special effects are not the best, but really a great story, give him a chance, you will not regret! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UMln9yov_Y

please update the list ;)
