Can only spectate or be a gunner in multiplayer after friendly fire?

The first time i participated in multiplayer i accidentally hit a burned out ruin. At mission end it said i was penalized for friendly fire. Ever since i can only spectate or man a gun of anothers aircraft. I am assuming this is because of the friendly fire issue. Days later this issue remains. I have spent much time searching for a solution to this problem and have come up empty handed. I would apreciate it so much if anyone could help me.

Hey, this may be not the answer you' ll be looking for. I was accused of friendly fire once in the campaign. No I want to try multiplayer, but I can only participate as spectator or as a gunner. Looks like the same problem. Any solutions to this problem? Please help
