Ever since the EN server went down. At times it's choppy, other times I'll just lag right out of the server. Is anyone else planning a US based Expert server?

I'm in the U.S. and my server pings are fine...but I was recently upgraded to 100+ mbps internet.  My buddy with mediocre internet doesn't seem to experience any problems.   It's not great but 90-100 pings which we can deal with.

 I have far worse connection: 8Mbs DSL, so 7mb in and 0.9mb out. Pings for EU servers, 50-70ms, US servers 150-170ms.

And I have an even worse connection: Download: 2.82 Mbps, Upload: 0.62 Mbps

Guys remember - Ping is VERY small.

I don't know everything about what causes high or low pings, but the speed of your connection isn't the whole story.

ping doesnt really matter in this game

 

its not like a fps game where seeing someone 150ms later is going to make a massive difference, and all of the hits in this game appear to register eventually regardless of your ping

I hate you and your testing a 100 miles we were doing it at 50. Faster than 95% at a 100 miles. yeah rub it in..LOL

EU servers : 300~400ms

US server : 100~180ms

 

My country has very stable internet connection, but that applies to domestic only.

Overseas connection is slow as hell

I would not worry too much about ping: I get at best 220-240 from Bangkok to either syndicate (EU) or the old Eagles' Nest (US), and in both cases I was able to shoot down and be shot down with no obvious lag problems.  Ground attack also zero issues.  I think anything that gives a "yellow" button is playable.

This thread is depressing. It just reminds me of how bad the Internet is here in Alaska. Insanely expensive, too.

You can have as much upload and download speed as you want and a good ping to the server you pingtest to, but if one of the hops you need to take further away has problems it will increase ping and latency, also make sure you have set your multiplayer up and down settings correctly in game, some patches reset them to low settings. Also some providers have been known to throttle certain ports which can be an issue.

 

Google "poor ping gaming" lots of things you can try.

I mean, it's not constant lag, but when it does happen, I'm usually on someone's 6. I just hope someone can pull a NA Expert server up soon :/

You can have a brilliant ping with a 56k connection, what really matters is the distance to the targeted server and the ping is mostly determined by the speed of light. (plus some rerouting calculations).

get the address of one of the servers and do a tracert then get the address of the master server and repeat.
