UK boxed copy to include map!

Hiya. I just received email from Excalibur announcing preorder for the boxed copy of BoS which included this detail:

"Unlike the digital version of IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad available on Steam for the same price, this box version includes:

 

Awards and medals poster

Double sided action poster

Map and aircraft recognition guide

Keyboard, mouse and joysticks guides "

 

Map! If this is any good I wouldn't mind contacting Excalibur to see if we could purchase the map as a seperate item for founders who already have a copy of the game.

This is included in the boxed version from 1CGS sold in Germany. There is a Ju-52 included in the planes guide, hmm I wonder why.

I never ever be founder again. All non founders will get these great items for probably the same amount of money. I am not willing to pay an additional copy just to get these items.

Can anyone read the scale on that map? Is it a standard size?

Not everyone has Photoshop or a.n.other image editing app that can read a PSD file.

 

Everyone can open a PDF.

There are some viewer, you don't need photoshop. And if you want to print the full map (i talk on one paper, not x A4 paper), you have to go to a specialised shop which has photoshop.

You're welcome guys. The map and subsequent posters is from me and ROEN911. The aircraft recognition guide includes the JU-52 because it is coming as AI a bit later. Overall U.S. boxed artwork will be a bit different. I will probably release the map file at a later date once the retail channel is established and flowing. As I did with ROF art files long ago.

 

Fort those that are complaining about being a founder, you got a cheaper price, access to the game months before anyone else and some other perks. We tried to make it worth your while.

Cheaper? The boxed version posted by the OP is about 51 Euros and for 10 aircraft. I would trade my golden bar and promise not to touch the game for the duration of EA against the map. If I had known that non founders will be able to get a map I would have waited. Next time I will wait.

 

At least you could offer founders the possibility to purchase the maps and the cds for a very preferential price (the costs for delivery + a few bucks for administration) I think.

The issue is that mortal people don't have the possibility to print large scale with same quality for the same price. 

 

I for my part even don't have a printer let alone a A3 or A2 printer which cost a fortune.

That map looks seriously good and much like the one that came with ROF. The map I received in my packaging with ROF has just about fallen apart, because I reference it so much.

MSRP in the USA and Canada will be equivalent to $59.99 USD. May be slightly different in Canada. Canada is weird eh! :-) I have ZERO control over what a UK distributor or other European distributors or retailers sells BOS for. It will also most likely be available on disk in Australia around the beginning of the year. But I also have no control over that price. Different markets, different margins different philosophies. Just be glad we are offering it in a box unlike a lot of other products nowadays.

 

And I already said I would probably release the map when the time is right as I did with ROF. People have already extracted it from the game and posted in this very forum anyways.

The quality of the extracted map can't be compared to the PSD map. The zoom is limited, and and you can't print it with the same details. That's why PSD will be welcome.

Jason, I am not complaining about the price. I understand that prices are under steady evolutions and first purchasers are always those that pay most. 

 

I just wonder if you could make it possible that founders might get these extras (map and preferably the hard copy). I mean your company or partners should have access to the database to see who is founder and who is not and provide the possibility to founders to get these items separately (of course billing the packaging and delivery costs). This would console me for not having waited for release.

 

And please understand that not everybody has the technical capability to print the file to the quality of the map that is provided with the box. I assume it is the same quality as the map of RoF and I don't know how I could get the same for a reasonable amount of money. I even don't have a printer and if I had it would only print to A4 format.

Wow. Very slick. My compliments to the persons responsible for the package design. Putting the anti-hero 109 front and centre makes for a pleasant little frisson. The blood red interior is brilliant too. Bold and unexpected, it would be an exciting package to open. Really impressed!
