Looking to upgrade rig

Hi folks,

 

I presently have an AMD FX-6300 overclock to 3.9GHZ and a Geforce GTX 660 and 8 GB Ram and a Samsung Monitor (4K) at resolution of 2560 X 1140. I play both DCS and BOS (ROF and COD as well).

 

Right now I can play ok at decent setting (mostly High) and FPS are fine although at time a bit choppy.

I'm looking at upgrading the system (AMD or Intel) but I'm looking at a decent jump in performance from what I have.

 

Any suggestion?  I've been researching the CPU/GPU but can't make up my mind.

 

One thing I try to avoid any CPUs that has integrated GPU.. not a big fan of that.

With that monitor I'm guessing an upgrade in CPU would be most important.  I have an FX-4300 overclocked to 4.3 ghz and a GTX660 and the game runs great on my 1600 x 900 native resolution monitor.   What's your budget?

My budget will be whatever my spouse will let me get away with haha! I guess a total of $1000 max for an upgrade would be ok and keep me alive...

Are you looking to upgrade components or buy a whole new rig.  If you are looking to upgrade components you can do a great deal with $1000 if you want a new rig to buy then, I think you will have little luck getting anything better than you have.  Do you know what size your power supply is?

Yeah I guess I could buy  a brand new PC..  I just like to upgrade myself..

My Supply is 800W which should be quite enough to play around...  I just got the bug to upgrade.... Even trying to build my own Switch control panel for DCS with a WIZboard. 

I've been checking the difference between Intel and AMD and just can't make up my mind to do a switch unless there are quite a lot of improvement FPS wise..

personally, I would sink my money into a GPU upgrade if I were you!

 Get the nVidia 970GTX and you are good to go. Far better bang to bucks invested than getting it all. And of course the boss of the house will be far more happier
