Just prior release of his book "Fighter pilot from Spain to the Eismeer"(freely translated) Günther Scholz has died at his home in Chemniz at age of 102 years. Condolences to his family.

He was one of the few living Legion Condor members, flew as member of JG54.

War is hell and you sometimes can't choose the side your fightig for. Still, I think of all the pilots as legends and have the utmost respect for german pilots. They were the best by far.

As for Condor... This is my SPAD VII RoF skin:

Met him several years and asked him to sign his book.

Ashame but I guess all those old tough guys from those times are leaving to the great army now.

Everyone is a "product" of their time. Judge not for we have no idea how the future generations will see us.

Rest to his soul.

I jugde politicians. I do not judge soldiers... especially not Luftwaffe pilots. They showed real greatness both for skill and bravery and for opposition to superiours on many occasions.

I almost pity you for living in Chemnitz. Wonderful city, but semi-derelict. A real shame. As is Guenther Scholz's death.
